Most casuals are like you. They dont understand the significance of Crawford being referenced as a 135 pounder. He has a 135 pound frame. The added weight above that is a disability. Some overcome it. Most dont. An acceptable weight gain above boxers “base weight “ or “TRUE fighting weight” is about 10-15 pounds. Anything above that is “overweight” and a “hindrance to EFFICIENCY”.
True fighting weight” VARIES slightily from person to person. Im an inch taller than crawford and when i boxed I had far less mass than him. My true fighting weight was 126-130. As a mature man, IN MY PRIME, i boxed at 140. Height, LEAN muscle mass and bone structure determine ideal boxing weight.

Id of loved to see Mayweather/Pacquiao fight 5 years earlier. Id of also loved to of seen Loma/ Tank 5 years ago. Oh, and of course Canelo/ GGG 5 years earlier.
Unfortunately, theirs NO MONEY in doing it that way. The more desire from “CASUALS” to see big fights. The MORE MONEY.
MARK MY WORDS. Canelo WILL offer a fight to Benividas. After what I saw in Benividas last fight. Theirs NOTHING for Canelo to be afraid of. Benividas met a “highly decorated “OLD MAN” in his last fight. Not near Canelo’s caliber. I see Canelo by 10 round KO or winning by 4 points.
Anyone else noticing that over the last year that Canelo ISNT getting fat in between fights? Look at him at his recent promotion. He looks like hes ready to weigh in. Hes a smart fighter. Hes learned a HUGE rule as you get older. ALWAYS BE IN SHAPE. He reminds me now of Hopkins.

His arrogance doesn't allow him to be honest, he has chosen to not be honest, and rather lie about certain things in order to stroke his own ego.
He wants to feel as though he above everyone else, and their many followers of his who agree with his bull**** line of aggrandizement, but nobody is above the law or the rules.
He's so full of himself that he's in for a big fall, because he's forgotten about his humble beginnings, and no one will be able to put him back together again.
I remember how he came out on a pedestal, complete with a crown, and royal cape of sorts prior to his fight with Bivol, only to get slapped silly by the light punching Bivol.
Which goes to show that we should never forget who we are, or where we come from, because life has a way of knocking you off of your pedestal, and humbling you!
Yes, Canelo is arrogant and full of himself, but so are and were hundreds of other boxers and thousands of other athletes at all levels of sport. When did boxing, or this site for that matter, become a forum for shallow moral cliches? If Alvarez offends people so much can always choose to tune him out and not watch his fights.

LOL, casual, you just sounded like one. You might want to revise that. Fighters have the ability to squeeze down when they are young, as they mature they go up, almost every fighter, not all go up in weight as their career goes. But I get it you are a fanboy and really take what a fighter says like scripture. Bud has said in the past that he wants to go up in weight because 147 was getting hard to make.

Bud is #1p4p for me. He lives the boxing life and has skills for days, but he is not a little man.

If you want to be in the public eye, then you have to withstand public scrutiny, if conduct yourself like a champion then you wont get any backlash, but if you don't it's coming.
Other public figures get their own bad press/scrutinized when they cross the line, but on this platform we're talking about boxers, and Canelo is the subject matter.
There is nothing shallow about morals, because once you lose your morals, you've pretty much have lost your self respect.
The general consensus is that Canelo has grown more arrogant, as he's gotten older, and isn't willing to face the toughest challengers in his division.
Many fans in boxing don't want to hear his excuses, or lies about it, if you want to remain the current champion then you have to fight the best fighters out there right now.
If you don't want to do that then you're yesterdays champion not today's, after he lost to Bivol his ego was fractured.
It looks like he doesn't want to fight the best challengers even in his own division, we know he didn't want any part of fighting Bivol a second time.
Every fighter has his time to reign, his time is coming to an end, and he knows it, but doesn't want to accept it.
I don't pay to watch any of his fights since he lost to Bivol, because his fights aren't entertaining or competitive anymore, but it has nothing to do with your suggestion.

crawford was huge at 135 too, look at the size difference with him and gamboa and it was clear crawford would be moving up

crawford was huge for 135. he grew into 147 fine. He would not have been able to continue to make 135 for long. 154 is when we finally seen him start to look small. All these guys who were supposedly big welters like spence and horn, crawford was the same size as them side by side and stronger on the inside than them.
