Yeah nobody really cares about Crawford.

Who cares though? The Saudis are putting on great cards. I'm here to watch the fights not to worry about the PPV numbers.

There's just so many sports for people to choose from. Boxing is just a tiny boat floating on a vast ocean filled with cargo ships and liners. It's true those who watch boxing are die-hards and passionate about the sport. But they're tiny compared to the overall number of other sports enthusiasts. Who would have thought volleyball, for instance, would be resurrected and would become regular on tv or live streaming?
Number of boxing fans neither grow nor shrink. They watch PPVs by any means or non-PPVs equally. Of course there are biases in the media and the way they cover it. Loma vs Haney, for example, is the same size as any PPV card. It's not smaller or bigger to a boxing fan. That's why PPV numbers can't be taken seriously. They're all manufactured and exaggerated. The Garcia vs Haney was expected to do 2 million PPV buys due to the endless controversies from day one to post fight. Yet no official number got associated with it.

Crawford has never been a draw at the box office and Arum losing money on his fights was well documented.

Of course Bud vs some faceless guy from Bumfuccistan flopped.

              Why is this news?

This article from Iole is complete garbage.

                  1) PPV's used to only be reserved for MARQUEE fights. Tyson-Holyfield, De La Hoya-Trinidad, etc.
                  2) Modern PPV's that are MARQUEE fights... IE Davis-Garcia.... STILL do great numbers and generate insane money.

When guys who are not draws like Charlo, Tszyu, Crawford, etc fight unknown opponents on PPV, those PPVs flop because they're not worth spending money on.

If they created away to stop Crawford-Madrimov from being illegally streamed, it would have done the same numbers - faced with the choices of buying the PPV and not watching, people wouldn't have watched.

Riyadh Season cards were never meant to make money. They make that much every 15 minutes. Anyone who doesn't understand this... What a mor0nic take. The card accomplished the goal.
