Comments Thread For: Danny Garcia on Erislandy Lara: 'He wants my name, I want his title'

There was no bad blood between veteran Cuban Erislandy Lara and Danny Garcia ahead of their September 14 bout in Las Vegas, even though the fight has been years in the making.

I like both and will root for Lara

he doesn’t move as much as he used to but has the stylistic edge here

Danny has been outboxed in the past

Lara is better at outfighting than Danny is at applying pressure

The fingers of the compubox punch counters will have some rest this fight. I don't see alot of exchanges in this one, I imagine both will be very measured in their offense... especially at ages 36 and 41.

Garcia coming off a 2 year layoff and getting a title shot at a new eight class.sounds very on-brand for the WBA.

Lara wants you because you're just a guaranteed victim for his next yearly pension. You don't know how much money Lara and his wife accumulated fighting any no name guy put in front of him. His wife is good with money. It really doesn't matter who he fights. He gets his yearly pension, that's what matters. Decubas, his manager, had set this all up for him which started after his fight with Canelo. He's been getting $1 million per fight since. Of course, DeCubas cut is also guaranteed.

Lara ended up having the best career in the prior batch of Cubans

Everyone was betting on masterful Rigo or the flashy Gamboa

but the 1-2-1 guru Lara pulled it off
