  • Israil‘s Switch Hitting

T-Bud will be facing one of his own on Saturday.

do you see Israil’s stance switching making an impact in this fight?

T-Bud is vulnerable to arcing right hands

No, it's not a good idea for Madrimov, it actually makes no sense for any fighter to switch hit, that's something dumb UFC/MMA fighters do. Crawford does it cuz he's c ocky and doesn't take the fight seriously when he goes southpaw.

I saw some highlights on Madrimov and I noticed he wildly, lunges forward with his head down. That's going to cost him in the fight cuz Crawford's going to tie up Madrimov, frustrate him by holding, step to his left and then time him with the uppercut. Bud and his team did their homework.

Mad has a decent chance of winning if he doesn't follow or chase Crawford around the ring, he has to keep the fight in the center of the ring.

But with only 10 fights and as unseasoned as Madrimov is, I don't see that happening.

When Crawford will hit him, Madrimov's lights will be switched off.

In my experience, the primary advantage to being able to switch hit, especially mid combo, is that you can create angles and openings when none would exist otherwise. The issue that Madrimov will have is that Crawford is better at it than he is. I don't think we'll see much of it from Madrimov, personally. Lately he's stuck to a stance for most of the fight far more often than he did earlier in his career.

I can't agree that it makes no sense if the fighter doing it can actually fight in the other stance and fight well. Not such a big advantage early on when the opponent can think well and the change doesn't make much a difference. Now fast forward to rds 8+ when he's tired and can't think as well and is getting hit more often. The switch all a sudden creates new opportunities for the switch hitter where his opponent whose tired isn't expecting the punches to come from and lacks the sharpness/aware to react fast enough.

I think it's a great tool if you can use it, but only later in the match when the opponent can't think as sharp as the beginning.

Also, Crawford isn't necessarily c ocky when he does it when you consider he fought the entire Spence Jr. fight in southpaw. He mostly knows what he's doing when he switches.

the Ennis family described it best

T-Bud fights southpaw 80% of the time

a southpaw right hook is the most awkward punch
