Canelo at no point in his career was going life and death with anyone. Canelo has been a know cherry picker since his Televisa days. If he fooled the USA audience then good for him because it has clearly worked for him financially, but that doesn't mean we have to give him the praise/honor of being a legend.

After Mayweather, then Lara, his team convinced him to be smarter about his matchmaking. That's him taking calculated risks after almost 50 fights. There are some cherries in between the big ones, but it's better to stay active than to only fight once a year. People complain he got the names on his resume at a good time, but if you're a world class athlete fighting within a weight class (or in Jermell's case two weight classes), it's your job to be ready for when that call comes. And we can say whatever we want in these forums, he's already a legend, Loco

u have to hand it to benny, he has destroyed canelo fans single handily

benny has been waiting patiently for years for the canelo fight, he did everything right & its the fight to make now anyone can see that
"Deserves" has nothing to do with it. That's the point.

Earlier on in David's career Canelo may have been more willing to face him. He would have had to in order to become undisputed.

Canelo never had an interest in undisputed in any division until the path opened up for him at 168 with a bunch of soft UK fighters holding titles. All the evidence shows he wouldn't have gone anywhere near Benavidez even if he had a belt. He got 3 belts from BJS and Callum Smith, that's about as easy as it gets. BJS was not even a legit SM and Callum Smith sucks.

Trust me he is not a legend. He is a great fighter who has a look of stains on his career. There is a reason that he has more detractors than fans in his own country. That has never happened before with on of Mexican main top fighters.

A fighter should at least strive to have to respect of his country/people.....he does not have that. He got boo'd in his hometown vs Ryder.
