He's been avoiding top fighters for years now. He's got 32 fights and 29 KO's with only one of those coming against #9 ranked Villa, and zero in the top 5. That's what a padded record looks like.

If he actually wants the smoke, he'll be ringside for Crawford v Madrimov. Let's see if he shows, eh? Stanionis already said he'd fight Ennis. Why haven't they pursued that fight? Why haven't they called out Ortiz Jr or Tszyu? August 3 will tell all. I doubt Boots shows his face at the fight, and if he comes at all, and Bud shows out, he's gonna run like Spence did at the Porter fight. But he's already turned down the BLK Prime offer to fight Bud "out of loyalty" to PBC and Showtime...
Team Jaron Ennis petitions for IBF mandatory title shot against Errol Spence, want to test themselves against the elite
Jaron Ennis’ father and trainer, Bozy, talks about the plans for his son’s next move.
      By Wil Esco@wil_esco Oct 28, 2022

Boxing trainer Bozy Ennis took some time to talk to Fight Hype about the current plans for his son Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis now that an undisputed welterweight title unification between Errol Spence and Terence Crawford is dead in the water. Bozy says he’s now petitioned the IBF for a mandatory title shot at Errol Spence, but knows there’s some crowded business there as he’s not the only one jockeying for a shot at the belts.

Bozy Ennis on pushing for his son’s mandatory title shot now that Spence vs Crawford isn’t happening

“That’s what I’m waiting on now, the update on the (IBF mandatory position), ‘cause you see I put the petition in for the (mandatory title shot). I should know something by next week. I got information for somebody and it should be taking effect next week, so we’ll find out where we coming from.”

On Eimantas Stanionis pushing for his mandatory shot at Spence with the WBA, and what they’ll do if he gets the next shot

“Keith Thurman. Keith Thurman, but he’s in line too. They’re trying to move him to the WBC where he’s gonna be in line to fight Spence too. So if he don’t fight Spence, fight us. We gonna get a title. I don’t know when we gonna get it but I know we right in line for the title so the IBF, we’re #1 for that...

“We just want our opportunity to test our skills against the top fighters, ‘cause I think Spence is great and I think Crawford is great. So we got to find out how great we are when we fighting guys like them. That’s why I want to fight them guys.”

Just so you know the history, Spence did not fight Crawford until July 2023! That article was from October 2022!

Saying Crawford should go back to 147 to fight Boots, is like saying Bam should go back to 112 to fight Olascuaga. It’s lunacy!
Please stop! Danny Garcia had better fights @ 140 than Terence Crawford! Crawford's road to Undisputed at 140, was as weak as Canelo path to Undisputed @ 168! People told Crawford to "prove it," because he was fighting weak ass Jeff Horn, and fighters who were recovering from GUN SHOT WOUNDS!!! At least Spence gave him a shot! What if Spence would've said, "Yo, i'm going to 154, if Bud wants it, he has to move up?" Spence would've been crucified!

I'm not saying Crawford should go back to 147 to fight Boots! I agree, Bud should chase Canelo and the bag! What I don't like is people blaming Boots for not fighting Spence and Crawford!!! It's not his fault! When Spence was the man @ 147, Boots was chasing him, via the IBF, and fighting on Showtime! When Crawford became the man, Boots is chasing him. Crawford decided fighting Madrimov is a better fight! That's not Boots' fault!

Damn, Crawford going up to 167lbs is biting more than he can chew. This might be similar to Canelo vs Bivol, but Canelo could potentially stop Crawford. I think he's too small for the weight. Let's see how he manages 154lbs first.

Why did the IBF strip Crawford of the title? We have (some) answers

When was the last time Spence made a mandatory defense?

Somehow, Spence has made only one IBF mandatory defense, a first-round KO of fringe contender Carlos Ocampo in June 2018.

How Ocampo inherited that position in the first place is a mystery, par for the course when it comes to boxing's sanctioning-body shenanigans.

Spence won the IBF title from Kell Brook in May 2017 via 11th-round KO. Since then, he's suffered two serious injuries -- a car accident that hospitalized him for days and a detached retina that scrapped a fight with Manny Pacquiao -- and fought seven times.

Three of those seven fights were unifications (fights against Shawn Porter, Yordenis Ugas and Crawford). The IBF allows such unification bouts against other champions to take precedence over mandatory fights.

Following a mandatory defense, a fighter is typically allowed to make a voluntary defense against someone who is ranked. One such voluntary defense took place against Mikey Garcia. Another against Lamont Peterson. Danny Garcia was a WBC mandatory defense.

What isn't clear: Why the IBF didn't crown an interim champion until January when Spence dealt with two yearlong-plus layoffs.

"We probably should have ordered an interim earlier given the extent of Spence's injuries," IBF president Daryl Peoples told ESPN on Friday. "We typically try to stay away from interims but concede that it should have been done earlier. We underestimated his recovery time. I have to own that. Nothing nefarious."

Like I said, Boots did what he was supposed to, the IBF dropped the ball! They tried to make up for it by ordering Crawford vs. Boots! Crawford moved to 154! Again, not Boots' fault!

They can fight each other, and also the other guys that are a big challenge.

That is, Benavidez for Canelo and Ennis for Crawford, at any weight.

Geez guy, you gotta look at the time frame. Boots became interim for Spence January 7, 2023. Crawford v Spence wasn't announced until May 25th, and it didn't even start to get discussed until Crawford called Spence personally in March, but Ennis didn't petition for his shot until the end of May when the fight was announced. His previous petition was in October 2022, when Stanionis had first call as WBA was higher in the mandatory rotation, and had also filed for his shot. Then after the Spence fight, he was quiet again and didn't file for his shot vs Bud until Spence confirmed he would call for a rematch. He's got a consistent pattern of only petitioning for his shot when he knows there's someone else in line ahead of him. And again, they are on record turning down a shot at Bud "out of loyalty to Showtime" when they didn't HAVE a mandatory shot. Think about why he's got only 1 fight against a top 10 opponent, and none vs anyone in the top 5. As I said, if he actually wants smoke, he'll show up for the next fights of Crawford, Ortiz Jr, Spence, and Tszyu. Let's see if he does. In the meantime, he's got a very clear pattern of avoiding fights.

No were are not. Clenelo was the one that said it would be a mismatch and that he would get no credit.

Garcia got a gift against Mauricio f***ing Herrera. Crawford dominated at 140. Postol was as good of a win as anyone Danny beat at 140, he even whooped Matthysse who was arguably Danny’s best win at 140.

The point remains the same anyway, you said Spence told Crawford to prove it. Bud was lineal Lightweight Champion, Undisputed Light Welterweight Champion and reigning Welterweight Champion. He had nothing to prove when the PBC guys were freezing him out. Ennis has A LOT to prove, he won a belt via email and has a single top 10 win in 30+ fights.

Why would he even be on Crawford’s radar? As I said do you think Bam is worrying about the guys that picked his belts up at 112? Do you think Inoue cares about the guys who got his old belts at 118?

Ennis’ team are just trying to use Crawford’s name to build Boots’ profile, I get it, but it is what it is and that’s BS. Go and clean up at 147 and then maybe we’ll take your demands for a Crawford fight seriously.
