If he can get Fishnets to put it in writing, he should join GBP for a 3 fight deal at least.

He could be right. The opponents involved in his boring matches didn't do anything special either.
Nakathila didn't press hard enough and was too scared to throw punches either.
De Los Santos was just basically a mirror of him. DLS steps forward, Shakur steps backward. Shakur steps forward, DLS steps backward. Rinse and repeat.
Harutyunyan was not up to the task to press aggressively and thus the story didn't change.
So maybe Zepeda would do something different.

But then Shakie being the one getting paid handsomely has the bigger responsibility to deserve the financial reward he's getting.

Yup , that would be the start of a positive on his dwindling career
He would redeem himself and bring back some fans

shak might be playing mind games here, the best of him might be even more elusive v a pressure mexican guy which is what he does best & what mexicans do best as well maybe as in apply at pressure or he could mean he will land better shots more often and get the crowd cheering for him v a guy who is getting some hype as hard guy in the ring

paro took the wind out of the other kinda bogeyguy matias, could shakur do the same with this guy?

does anyone believe he will do what he says he will? i dont think i do actually

zapeda is getting hype but i dont think he has even contended for a title yet so it could all be smoke and mirrors in the end anyway

Shakur Stevenson is a modern-day boxer/businessman blessed with supreme skill, who also has a high degree of dedication. He has yet to fight an opponent who was anywhere near bringing any actual violence out of him so he's kinda been fighting on sport/anti-CTE mode.

All glazing aside, I honestly believe that the runner with the boyish looks is perfectly capable of dragging Zepeda into quite deep waters by being hard to hit through 7-8 rounds & then sniping him with crosses for the remainder.

Obviously I can't see Stevenson wanting to trade to the body with Zepeda or really & truly stand with him at any stage but I can actually see Zepeda taking some punishment in the latter stages a la Billy Joe Saunders vs Lemieux.

Don't know what GBP has been waiting for to make this mandatory fight between Stevenson and Zepeda happen. They have complete control now that Shakur is a free agent. It will become complicated if Shakur makes a deal with Hearn, both of whom are set to meet for possible signing in the coming days.

Yeah but that wasn't till later in Mayweather's career. He was was whooping ass at 130, 135 and 140.
