I honestly don't blame Ennis one bit for not wanting the fight, he is talented and if Bud stops him, his carefully guided career and all that work has much less value, and he has no signature wins to point at. If he got beat up like Spence did, and looking at his defense he may well get badly beat up, his aura and hype fades to zilch.

I just wish he would cut the BS and stop using Bud's name in public and then turning the fight down in private. It's ridiculous.

That’s great information. Didn’t know Boots was your cousin. How else would you know all that private conversation?
As for the “derailing his career” part, SRL has multiple losses and so does Cotto and Mosley and plenty others. Their careers turned out just fine.

Saudi Arabia is interested in the fight. Why can’t Crawford call BS on them by stepping up to it. He will make his biggest paycheck. More than what he is getting fighting Madrinov.

Boots has a lot of tools, and he has to be careful he doesn't try to do too many different things in one round.

He doesn't have a major flaw, although you notice how he does get caught cleanly here and there. You can't make the odd mistake or two against Crawford.

An lot of members here seem to feel like Boots is too defensively irresponsible to really give Bud a good go... Frankly I have to agree. I still think it would be a great opportunity for Enis, but the kid really has to understand "levels to the game."

What is sad is we have this new generation of lost fighters. Guys who listened to the likes of promoters, and fought to never lose. When they got half decent these fighters were avoided. So A guy like Boots, Tank Davis, and many more, are in their twilight, having not fought elite competition. With Boots it is particularly sad because if he had fought the best, and even lost a few times, he could be a phenominal talent. As it stands now? He has not had the experience to fight at the elite level... He has ring rust as a young fighter...

These guys need to fight for free, fight every month, learn the craft, get that polish, yes I am exxagerating, but when you see a talent like Ennis, ring rusty, getting hit by a journeyman... It is just kind of sad.

If this is true it is really sad. You cannot compare Spence to Boots with respect to a marque fight with Crawford... Apples and oranges. Spence had accomplished what he wanted... Even though he lost in spectacular fashion, it was a sort of cashout fight he needed to take. An unanswered question can sometimes be worse than a definite conclusive answer: We now know how Spence compares to Bud... We will never really know how Lewis would have done against Bowe for example...

Boots is a young fighter who would benefit even in a lose to Crawford. I don't think this would be a "derail" at all. It would show him what he needs to compete against, instead of these fighters that he has to look great against because he is so much better.

People need to stop comparing Bud with Boots or vise versa. Bud started from 135 and went on to fight 147 guys that Boots supposed to have fought long time ago like Avanesyan, Kavaliauskas, Khan, Brook, etc.

Ennis laid low and made business decision. He skipped higher-level, low reward fights that many young fighters were not able to and thus lose their zeros early. And that decision is starting to bear fruit. I'm almost certain he'll head straight to the Crawford fight produced by Turki.

Boots would get hurt and we would get to see what he’s made of. Very interesting matchup. Boots likely has a different gameplan for Bud than he did for Avanesyan.
