Different ways to view what Shakur is doing. People seem to assume it is the money, and it might not be the money, but the freedom to challenge opponents that he wants to challenge.

I kind of see it that way... Very little good seems to come from locking into a contract. You lose the freedom to determine your own career. Lets say hypothetically that Shakur winds up making half of what Arum offered, but has the authority to call out and fight the people he wants to fight... This could create more benefit down the line... And Millions is millions, not Billions... That freedom is worth a few more million if one uses it well.

Shakur is not so young and these next few years will be his twilight... I hope he uses it wisely.

One has to be very mindful that the difference between one million and 3 million, is probably less than one million. After taxes, after fees paid, everyone taking a cut, etc...

Lets look at how it could go sideways: If Shakur negotiated a contract with an insurance rider, or provision for lost income in case he was injured... Then that money would be more tempting because it would be guaranteed... But again, those entitlements have costs! Otherwise, Arum would have Shakur fight guys that are beatable and look good losing to him. Thats what Arum does.

So is the risk worth it? It depends on Shakur's tolerance for risk I s'pose. It also depends on if Shakur can make some adjustments and become capable of being a threat to an elite hitter like Tank or Innue.

Imo , not accepting the 15 for 5 fights was an error in judgment especially after his last outings
Not sure he’ll get that anywhere else but what I can se is someone offering 2 million first fight and analyzing the situation and go from there

Huh? Ryan was clearly the b side. Which is ok.

In this era it seems more about the quality of the fight then a name that sells ppvs.

If we could get a credible number on Haney v Ryan then we could have a fact based discussion.

Followers are a lot of tweens. They aren’t buying boxing ppvs.
