To me it's like owning a car - the object of utility and pleasure - and the necessary unpleasantness of paying for and dealing with insurance, tags, titles, and taxes. Boxing (the actual fights) is the car. Matchroom, PBC, TR, etc. is the other BS you have to put up with to enjoy the 1998 Plymouth Grand Voyager.
Don't mind me. I'm just part of the 10% of the posters on here that belong to the ray-ciss anti-promotional company group. I don't want to be that way but as long as there are anti-black/PBC posters on here and no one says anything when they speak then I am going to be the anti-whomever/Dazn poster. Don't mind us carry on please!

The other Liam is fighting at 135 and already got blasted by Valdez.

You do you, DC. I was just wondering what the interest is in the arcane promotional rivalries. By the way, I appreciate what you said about Bob Arum being a decent guy and having been a part of the civil rights movement a long time ago (in what way I don't really know but I'll take your word for it). My take was you were trying to counter an implied smear of his business practices simply because he's a ***. If I read too much into that, my bad!

Team Matias should've negotiated a rematch clause like Estrada did vs. Rodriguez. The problem with that idea is that Hitchins/Lemos fought for a mandatory position, so I'm not sure if he and Paro would've had to ask the IBF for permission.

PBC definitely a slow track or no track but if you can rise to the top you will make money - but how long will it take?

Matias shouldn't be discarded - he's an exciting fighter who most want to see. Unfortunately, without a title, now he's really going to be avoided.
Hearn is the "high-roller" of the promoters: high-risk, high reward. He tries to keep the showcase/tune-up fights to a minimum, and he might throw you into the deep-end earlier than other promoters will. A lot of MR's major recent signings seem to be more short-term affairs too, so that fighters don't get too comfortable. He loves fighters who have gumption. I think that's why he's gotten behind Jesse Rodriguez. When 22-year old Bam decided to take on Cuadras on a week's notice, that spoke volumes to Eddie about his mettle. That's the type of fighter Eddie wants to market because he doesn't have to lie or embellish too much. He can get on his promotional megaphone and just speak from the heart. Warren and Arum's amount of experience in the business have made them risk-averse. While Eddie may step guys up too soon, his elders arguably take too long to do the same. I think every promoter has moments of good and bad matchmaking, but what counts as "good" or "bad" can be subjective.

I don't envision MR discarding Matias. He's entertaining and marketable, but he better be ready to take a big risk next time.

Yea you read to much into it but all is well Lol. I'll give you a quick rundown of the correlation between Arum and the civil rights movement. The 1940s-1960s were the years when the movement was at its peak. The ***ish and black communities during that time developed a quasi business relationship with one another due to the fact that neither were openly accepted in American mainstream society so the two had to use whatever resources they had at their disposal to force their way into the mainstream. The ***ish community were really thriving in the business world and blacks were coming into their own in sports and entertainment. To make a long story short the two relied on each other and some of those relationships remain intact TO DIS DAY (Wilder's voice). Hence Bob and Ali. It's to complicated to cram it into a post but kind of interesting if you ever want to research it. Would explain more but my steak burger bacon and cheese sandwich is ready. Happy 4th!!
