Damn Its crazy the amount of haters canelo bring to any of his articles ,Berlanga not even official opponent for September and we got the usual suspects btching and moaning like women lmao.
Anyhow, I dont really care if the ginger fights Berlanga or not, all my attention will be on Ufc mexican independence event at the sphere. Talk about tough competition .Comment

You can’t criticize Canelo for the Golovkin fight. He was a little bit past the hill but he was still a solid fighter and people were wondering if Canelo could be the first to stop or drop him. GGG’s got a diamond chin, though.
I’m not even going to criticize the Ryder fight either. Ryder pulled a rabbit out of a hat by rallying while down on the scorecards to edge Daniel Jacobs in a close fight.
The Charlo pick was probably the weakest of his latest opponents. Though Charlo was undisputed at 154 and he had avenged his sole loss by KO, I could see maaaaaaaaaaaybe Charlo from two weight classes away doing something spectacular. I didn’t think he would, but we’ve seen stranger things before (Pacquiao/De La Hoya for example, Duran/Leonard 1). Charlo essentially **** the bed on his attempt. Piss poor effort.
Jaime Munguia I don’t think (like anyone on this list) was anywhere near to be the favorite against Canelo, but you could justify him earning a shot with his performances over Derevyenchenko and his TKO over Ryder.
The Berlanga fight is just…ugh. The main reasons why Eddie would make it is because of the ethnic rivalry, Berlanga’s ‘0’, and the high probability that Canelo looks spectacular to set up a bigger fight. Cause Berlanga is essentially a KO waiting to happen when he makes his ring walk.
I’m just salty because:
1-) Mexico essentially gets a “bye” and scores a victory over PR
2-) Berlanga’s personality seems douchey.
3-) I can’t defend Canelo.
From a financial standpoint, sure. But…Berlanga, bro……..what in the flying ****…?
The only pleasure I’m going to get from this fight happening is watching my brother in law (a major Berlanga fight) watch his hero get demolished, cause that’s it. Berlanga’s chances of winning that fight are like Marquez against Mayweather. He can’t KO Canelo and once he realizes this he will have NOTHING to offer and it’s going to snowball catastrophically.
ryder lost that jacobs fight clearly, but then again he beat callum smith clearly who canelo didnt want to fight until after the ryder fight lol
charlo was a joke fight. fighting a guy moving up 2 divisions? beyond silly.
mungia should have lost to dervyechenko. hard to justify him earning a shot based on that? ryder is an ok win but in reality most of ryders good grace had already faded from his robbery loss to callum smith when we found out A. callum smith was massively overrated and B. ryder wasnt that good either as he should have lost to jacobs, lost to canelo, and then lost to munguia. he also lost to rocky fielding before the callum smith fight.Comment

Think about it this way, If Benavidez ,morrell or mbilli where to fight Ryder or Mungia NO ONE would criticize that nobody would call that a cherrypick and dont get me wrong buddy, I think Berlanga is no match for the ginger that fight is rather pointless.Comment

floyd did the same thing when he was ducking pac. floyd vs guerrero, floyd vs ortiz, etc...decent fights if you take them out of context but the context is hes ducking pac in order to fight these guys. we would never say pac is ducking floyd to fight guerrero because we knew floyd was running scared with his take the test nonsense, oh you can have 14 days, oh you can have 0, oh you cant have any ppv revenue. canelo did this same thing with ggg to fight khan, liam smith, chavez jr etc...now hes doing it with benavidez. its a boxing tradition i suppose and its a way to artifically extend your career and pad your bank account, but it is without a doubt cowardly. its just a shame when guys like floyd and canelo grab the reigns of power in boxing. their ego simply wont let them fight guys that can beat them or humiliate them, canelo already made that mistake with bivol when he thought he would be a push over. never again is his mottoLast edited by daggum; 07-02-2024, 12:16 PM.Comment

He'll be 34 in just over a couple weeks. Time isn't on his side like it was with Golovkin.Comment
