Nico seems like a real nice guy. Someone in his family should talk sense to him and get him to stop before he gets majorly damaged or killed. The guys has gone life and death with a not good fighter twice now and he has taken heavy shots. Now his shoulder randomly disjoints while he is taking a beating. The kid's body is not made for the sport. If that had been a good fighter he'd have seen the shoulder and knocked him out.

I honestly give Ali credit for hanging in last night. And he sounds like he has a good mindset. But he is going to get hurt badly against any top fighter and embarrassed. He has a decent chin which is actually dangerous, because he will take longer sustained beatings meaning brain damage.

And ESPN and Top Rank goading it on because his granddad was Ali. Using it for hype and views.

Just feels wrong. I hope the kid wakes up before ending up with brain damage and an altered life to have achieved basically nothing in the sport apart from being Ali's grandkid who tried to box.

The writer was able to hold out until the 4th paragraph on mentioning Ali is this kid’s grandpa. Impressive.

I respect the kid. He's not taking shortcuts. He's honestly trying to be a fighter and he has improved a lot. He's not a great fighter , maybe not even a good fighter but so what ? Everyone can't be Terence Crawford. He's doing his best with what he has. He showed real grit fighting the last round with a dislocated shoulder. A lot of guys wouldn't have , especially the ones talking **** about him here.
Be honest , would you have turned down a multi million dollar contract to fight in the circus league to fight deep on Top Rank undercards ? I doubt it.

Nico is a good dude and I love his dedication to the sport however what I'm witnessing is the absence of any amateur experience and it's killing him! He has developed since turning pro; however over the course of his last 4 or 5 fights not much has changed and he's tuff because he's getting caught clean and often which could lead to more problems. As for some of the comments on here, people have a choice to say what they choose or view as acceptable, now that doesn't make it right or correct but to each his own.

Good comment. He does seem like he want to work his way up. What he is working to I am not sure but I respect him for taking that rematch. If he becomes a contender with a 25-3 w/15 ko type record then so be it. If I were him I would get the best training team possible including a strength and conditioning coach who can get him to produce more explosive power, I’d also get him a footwork coach someone with a background in dancing styles. Without a real amateur career, he’s going to have to shell out for higher level professional and outside the box training

I'm conflicted on Nico. First off, I have respect for anyone who steps in the ring. Second off, he is grinding it the right way as far as fights go. He's incredibly raw but he does have nice crack in his shots if he gets them off at a distance.

The fact that he has taken the money from ESPN (no blame there) and he allows the legacy thing to be exploited by the promotion means he's also open for some criticism. ESPN's coverage on the Ali aspect has toned down quite a bit although it's still cringe.

He's better than when he started and I look forward to seeing his continued progress.

Nico is doing the only thing he knows. He's a real fighter, he just isn't very talented. But look at his family, it's obvious he was going to be a fighter of some sort.

Muhammad Ali (Nico's grandfather) - HOF boxer, one of the GOATs
Laila Ali (Nico's aunt) - HOF boxer, one of the GOATs of women's boxing
Rahaman Ali (Nico's granduncle) - journeyman pro boxer
Ibn Ali (Nico's 1st cousin once removed) - journeyman pro boxer
Kevin Casey (Nico's uncle) - former Bellator MMA fighter
Biaggio Ali Wash (Nico's brother) - professional MMA fighter
Khalilah Ali (Nico's grandmother) - 9th degree black belt in Karate

He'll probably never contend for a major title but that's okay. He's making an honest go of it.
