Bene was a world champ, he fights co main or main...not undercard. And yes Canelo takes it easy and it's too bad because Bene is not 8-1 dog in that matchup. Canelo only accepts matchups where he is the landslide favorite.

Benavidez should fight where he feels he is at his most comfortable and where there are more financial opportunities for him.

Why does he have to chose? If he can make the weight what's the problem?

Would you say Charlo, Ryder, Yildrim, Munguia and now Berlanga were more “appealing” to Canelo?
Easier fights for the same money lol which would u take? Can’t blame canelo for getting the easy fights done first so he can maximize his earning potential. One bad loss and it’s over. Look at Devin haney.

Undercard, co-main, whatever you're preference. With this ppv-only Amazon deal and Saudi invasion, Benavidez at 168 is a nobody with nothing.

              Canelo's last fight did 550k

              Benavidez's last headliner did 49k & 150k in Davis-Martin

Even if Canelo gave up the WBC, Benavidez would still be in a dead class with no one interested in fighting him.

People were here bashing IBF for essential stripping Usyk, he was forced to vacate the belt for not honouring his mandatory obligation. The same folks don't have the same energy to shame WBC for their corrupt practices for allowing their champions to ignore their mandatory obligation and hold the belt hostage and cherry picking as they wish.

You folks should blame corrupt Suleiman for allowing this rubbish to continue instead of going after Canelo, he's merely making use of WBC lack of integrity. If WBC has integrity like IBF they would have stripped Canelo long time ago and allow David Benavidez and David Morrell fight for it.

Though I doubt DB would like that scenario for he's willing to wait for years for a Canelo payday whereby he's holding the nr 1 spot hostage. So, he's no better than Canelo in that sense.

This is a fair analogy. At this point I also believe Benavidez is chasing a ghost and a dream.

I’ve never seen an outright duck like we’re witnessing with Canelo. He could just acknowledge that he doesn’t think he can win and we move on.
I actually don't view it as a duck. Canelo's been waking up in silk pajamas for a while now. He wants to cruise the rest of his career with tune-ups and showcases.

Canelo has given us so many marquee events compared to today's entitled boxers, I don't hold it against him.

I think a lot of us have forgotten what it feels like to get punched in the face.

Jermall Charlo got a 3-year extension. What’s a couple of weeks?

As much as I want to see Benavidez vs. Canelo, it's probably not going to happen, so fight Munguia or Morrell!
