Too much talks when it comes to Shakur. All these young guys act like they’re the next Mayweather, but Floyd was already a first ballot HOF and crafting up
an ATG career at Shakur’s current age. Salute to Bud Crawford, he’s been the only one consistent with his talk and backed it up. Shakur talks way too ****ing much, and has yet to fight a legit P4P boxer.

I literally just watched Shakur’s latest FH interview and he took a little shot at Floyd’s performance against Pacquiao and tried to make a comparison to his previous fight about how people downplayed both of their performances for being boring, etc, but even though he’s right about his message, but his mentality of constantly trying to compare himself to Floyd or trying to desperately make it seem like he’s on the same level is what’s really holding him back right now(in my honest humble irrelevant opinion). There’s a thin line between being highly confident and downright delusional, and I think Shakur is the latter. Dude has all the tools to be an ATG, but his mentality is very different.

He hangs out with Bud Crawford, but Crawford is a quiet assassin and get **** done when it’s Go Time. When I look at Shakur, I see a highly skilled and talented boxer who lacks a bit of discipline(missed weight, always looking a bit pudgy, etc) and motivation. He says all the right things about being a boogeyman at 135, etc, but you have to step up to the plate and become the ATG that you’re telling the world you want to be. You say/think you’re better than Floyd ever was, then prove it. I’m still waiting…

I think the boxing world is fickle and contradictory. And by that I mean quite a few fans are bandwagon and copycat in nature. Quite a few critics at one point in time said Mayweather fought too defensively and was afraid to engage. Quite a few critics have said that Crawford hadn't really been tested by his opponents, and wasn't that good...to include myself. However, after looking at the whole body of work by both fighters, I have a high opinion of Mayweather (especially during the early part of his career), and Crawford (especially after his bout with Spence). It's an opinion of respect.

I think this may end up being the case with Stevenson. I think folks tend to dwell too much on Stevenson's fight with De Los Santos. Yes, that fight was a dud, but that was a dangerous opponent. I also believe that folks also dwell too much on Stevenson's knockout percentage. He has only knocked out 50% of his competition. Some boxers have to rely on an overall package to be successful, like Pernell Whitaker did. In Stevenson's defense, his power has increased as he has grown in size. He also has a high IQ. I also lean heavily on his bouts against Herring and Valdez - one was a champion and the other was undefeated. Stevenson used speed, defense, and power to beat both in impressive fashion. Not so much the fans, but fellow boxers realize the threat that Stevenson poses. I believe that when it's all said and done, he'll start getting the accolades that he deserves.

And if he ever ends up getting in the ring against Haney, Cruz, Loma, or Tank....I can see him easily beating 3 of 4 - in boring or exciting fashion.

it's not that people don't want to fight him, it's that nobody wants to watch him. He made himself the opposite of a draw.

I can't see Shakur Stevenson beating Tank Davis just by running.

Shakira is thinking that he is he next "Money" Mayweather but he forgets that before "Money" there was my favorite - "Pretty Boy" Floyfd and that version was a killer. Something that Stevenson probably never gonna be.
Loma wasn't avoided at all ,maybe by Tank back than.

I dont want or need to see Tank fight Loma in 2024. I want to see him fight an up and comer instead.

It's clear that Tank has Shakur on his radar. Shakur is younger than Tank, so he can wait. The best time to make the Lomachenko fight is ASAP. So get that out of the way, and then the Shakur fight will still be there available.

Damn, I usually like Paulie's insight on fights and fighters. But his clear bias for Shakur is beyond annoying. All he does is big up Stevenson no matter how boring his matches are. And this is because Shakur is just a more talented version of Malignaggi. No power and runs around the ring, basically stinking up the joint whenever faced with even mediocre opponents. Runs, holds, flicks out some jabs.....A throwback to Malagnaggi's career highlights. I will admit, Pauli did have heart though. When he fought Cotto he was brutalized. But he never quit even with what appeared to be a broken jaw. Come to think of it, it would be nice if his jaw were wired shut right now!
