Comments Thread For: Naoya Inoue Has Eye on Bigger Prizes Than Mandatory Assignment

Naoya Inoue doesn't feel obligated to adhere to a mandatory junior featherweight title assignment because he's not long for the division, his American promoter Bob Arum told BoxingScene on Monday.

If it's only about name value why are they so insistent upon fighting Goodman?

Wouldn't Akhmadaliev and Doheny make a lot more sense than Doheny and Goodman?

I get that Doheny is a money fight but I don't see why the MJ fight is the one to get thrown away for it.

Somehow they don't wanna fight MJ though he's the best opponent at 122.
Would never expect that from Inoue.

Inoue is just wasting time. Slaps add up, he can't escape his fate. He should go after a giant, road kill even better, instead of fighting into old age at home. Like getting smacked by Nery as a 12 to 1 favorite and Nery gets credit for getting his licks in. That takes a toll.

Big Inoue fan but really dislike this fight. Keep hoping the reports are incorrect but seems likely Doheny is next.

I'm guessing Goodman because he would have a ton of Australian fans tuning in due to the recent surge in boxing popularity there with Horn, the Moloney brothers, Kambosos, and Opetaia. These guys have fought Pacquiao, Crawford, Breidis, Haney, Lomachenko, and Nakatani...

Doheny is popular with the Japanese because he's 3-0 with 3 KO in Japan. Another revenge storyline.

MJ is a nicer fight than both, imo, but many felt like he lost to Roman, he savagely ducked Fulton, and Tapales beat him clean.

It feels like this attribution may be key.

Could it be the 31 year old Inone has already hit the cherry pick stage? It appears so.

I understand your point but still, calm down dear lol.

Don't like the Doheny fight at all... MJ and Goodman are better fights. Casimero might even be better. Disappointing, to say the least. Very out of character.
