Frank got slowed from too many body blows. Ryan took the knee and prevented something devastating while frank played the ropes and got took.

I can agree with that. However, I would have to charge that to Frank Martin's lack of ring experience for not being good enough or ready for Tank Davis in only his 19th professional fight.

Don't you agree? After all, Frank Martin didn't learn how to fight until he was in his late teens with virtually no amateur pedigree as compared to Gervonta "Tank Davis who has been fighting ever since the age of seven.

Champions are born not made.

I think Frank Martin prepared for the fight, and wanted to win. But some folks don't know when they are not good enough. I had the fight even though 4, but it was early in the fight and Tank is a slow starter. I felt that Frank should not have taken this fight. He didn't look good in his last fight. He had to rally for a knockout against a mediocre opponent.

I knew that Martin was in trouble as soon as Tank warmed up and started to impose his will. Martin looked like an amateur from round 5, on. And he tried, but he's not in Tank's league. Frank Martin, to me in a B+ level fighter. He's gonna win some and lose some at the elite level. He'll never dominate. When it's all said and done he'll probably have like a 30 and 8 record.

While years of experience may have played a factor in this fight, some fighters start late and still do exceptional. Frank Martin will not be exceptional.

And yes, champions are born, not made. Frank is not a born champion; TBH, he doesn't look like one.

Martin was a mismatch, and it showed. He wasn't ready for the moment, the way Canelo wasn't ready for Floyd. The way Ray Mancini wasn't ready for Alexis Arguello - history lessons for you.

I'd rather see Tank VS Ryan Garcia (without a rehydration clause), Teofimo Lopez, Isaac Cruz, or Shakur Stevenson. Tank will surely knockout Loma and Haney - so I don't want to see those matchups either.

I also mentioned Inoue in another post. Tank does not want any parts of him. Garcia, Teofimo, and Cruz. Garcia has a legitimate case for a rematch. If you look at his appearance VS Tank compared to his appearance VS Haney, he had two different body types. I think he'd be a handful for Tank if he carried a manageable weight. And Cruz was a last minute replacement. I'd like to see Tank fight a well prepared Cruz.

While these would be rematches and while I'd still favor Tank, these would have been more competitive fights.

And then there's Teofimo. Power VS Power.

What do you mean failed? Martin was a terrible opponent. But Tank knew this. The only thing given by Tank and received by Martin, was a boxing lesson.

He needed a defense to beat Tank in there but didn’t have one. He needed to keep the action in the center of the ring and tie Davis up every time he got in close but failed to do so.

And, If you can't see a case for Inoue VS Tank, you're not a real boxing fan.

I never heard of Frank Martin before 2024....
I'm not a fan.
I thought he was good enough fighter to face Tank Davis
But you said he didn't deserved a title shot and they were others that did

Martin fought scared. It's not the way to beat someone of Tank's caliber. You fight fire with fire. So mental preparedness is key. You don't worry about getting hit, but focused on hurting the opponent. You won't get affected with getting hit as much as when you're afraid to get hit because your focus is on inflicting damage to the guy in front of you. You see it in Alvarez, Beterbiev, Dubois lately, etc.

Ninety percent of boxing it is all mental.
A mother being able to lift a heavy car to save his son is mental.
You don't go to a fight with Tank just to display defensive tactics.
You go in there to hurt and dismantle the opponent. Otherwise, just turn the fight down.

In the very thick of things and when all things are considered; Frank Martin did pretty good as opposed to Davis. Who has been fighting since he was seven years old.

Given his late start to boxing and lack of boxing experience in his very first championship bout I thought he did Ok. Of course, no one ever expected him to defeat Gervonta “Tank” Davis anyhow.
