Parker: "Andy Ruiz punches a lot harder than Anthony Joshua"

Fighters almost always say the guy they beat was the hardest puncher, to elevate themselves. Mike Tyson said: "probably Ruddock" sometimes he said Bruno.

And here Parker wants to elevate himself by saying the guy he beat was a much harder punched.

When quizzed about Joshua's claims, Parker's trainer Kevin Barry responded: "Joe mentioned to me afterwards, saying 'It was funny, I thought the guy would hit harder than he actually did'.

"There's no reason for him to lie to me. He said that Andy Ruiz hit a lot harder than Joshua.

"But we knew that coming into the fight. Anthony Joshua is a not a one punch knock out guy, he's not going to knock you out with one punch, he is going to hit you with three or four punches and I think we saw that last night.

"He's a big guy and he has got muscles upon muscles but that doesn't mean you are the heaviest puncher in the world.

"Joe never looked like going down, he was never in any real trouble at all … coming back after each of the 11 rounds before the last completely clear, never fazed, never dazed.

"The nick he got over the eye was Joshua hitting him with an elbow."

    End of quote.
I don't believe for a second that fatty punches harder.

Andy Ruiz has a unique style for traditional HW's to deal with. Plus his hand speed makes him dangerous.

Guys like Ruiz, Usyk, and Parker all fight in styles suited more for smaller men, but they make it work. I doubt any of their straight crosses match AJ's strength but when they set up their punches using their unique styles, they will hit you with something u don't see.

I agree fully. Ruiz is a very effective volume puncher. But I don't think he is great aside from that. He is mentally a midget as the rematch showed. He did t even try for it. He was lucky to catch Joshua in a certain spot which cemented the fight,

ruiz has fast hands for a fat guy so its deceiving

but him hitting "way harder" than AJ i dont believe. Slightly harder sure.

Agree with the guy saying fighters always choose people they beat as their hardest fight or best puncher or best whatever. Many delusional fighters claim the guy who KO'd them dont hit that hard.

Im not in there taking the punches but the eye test would suggest AJ is the harder hitter.

The fights were totally different Parker stood in the pocket with Ruiz and got hit with flush combinations.

AJ vs Parker was a cagey affair both fighters were safety first and I don't remember either being hit with anything that big.

So yes I imagine taking combos off Ruiz vs taking jabs off AJ you might think Ruiz hits harder but I'm pretty sure AJ has the higher too end of punching power.

Ruiz does hit hard as well though.

Just because Ruiz hit Parker harder than Joshua hit Parker doesn't mean that Ruiz hits harder than Joshua.

I like to watch Andy fight, He never stops punching and in the late rounds he punches even more. Big heart in a small body!!!
