He has a great one-dimension, as a plodder, but with that limitation, once you use foot movement on him, you take away his ability to plant his feet and he has to reset every single time, which was countless times last night. Timing and movement cuts down the effectiveness of a plodding/volume style. Up to this point his other opponents stood in front of him. Not Paro who had a powerful, accurate and highly educated left hand to the head and body. Matias holds his gloves up well but does not use head-movement. And his one-dimension certainly does not include using any angles at all. He needs to make some changes but most likely will revert to what works for him, that's his sink or swim style that works most of the time, and he often swims. He will have to avoid fighters with good footwork and timing or fight ones that don't excel at that.
Will be interesting to see if they give Matias a rematch, however.

Matias hardly has “slow feet” as insinuated by the buffoons on DAZN. He’s simply a guy who comes forward and tests your will and stamina. It’s styles of fighting. Matias chose to abandon his jab and that was the deciding factor in the fight. If he decided to be a little more technical he disconnects Paro’s entire game plan. Usually when you hurt a guy, the end result is the injured fighter fights back. That’s what Matias and his corner was counting on. Paro had the discipline and the energy to not fall into the trap. At that point, Matias should have reverted to his jab and control the distance with it. He simply planned on wearing Paro down. It never happened. Would be interesting to see if Paro wants to have another fight with Matias.

He encountered the first disciplined fighter who didn’t crumble and abandon his wits after Matias hurt him. And Matias stung Paro plenty of times. When he did, he didn’t come back trying to earn respect. He stuck to his jab, a little movement and distance when Matias tried to close the gap. That’s where the jab would’ve controlled Paro. Amateurish corner should’ve called for the jab and more body work after it. The corner never said a word. They kept telling him to pressure Paro. They all thought Paro would melt under pressure. He didn’t.
Will be interesting to see if they give Matias a rematch, however.

YES YES YES You sir have hit the nail on the head. Chop Chop Corley is from D.C. so I remember that fight like it was yesterday. The lead up building up to that fight was ridiculous. Cotto had his whole island believing he was going to walk right rhough Chop Chop in one round. Then Chop Chop hurt him and had "afro Cotto" (Lol) out on his feet. I can still remember screaming at the Tv to ATTACK ATTCK FORWARD BLITZKRIEG!!!! Chop Chop just laid back, smiled at Cotto and let him back into the fight. The rest was history. Cotto said the next day he would never fight in PR again becuase to many distractions. Matias vs Paro shouldv'e been in NYC. Hearn knows nothing about promoting in the US. "earn with Hearn"???? Yea change that to "Learn with Hearn"!!!
