Eh, Benavidez supposedly tore a tendon in his hand in training camp. That could explain why he couldn’t stop Gvozdyk even though he was dominating him for most of that fight and constantly bouncing his head around like a rag doll.

I wouldn’t be in a rush to write him off just yet.

If all three of those fighters are in solid form, it would be very difficult for Benavidez to win rounds against them consistently.

That is why? I have always been adamant that stylistically Benavidez is a fight straight up Alvarez's street.

Movement, Gears, Elite level defense, Mid to Long range game. Those are the area's combined which a fighter needs to stylistically put Alvarez in a very difficult fight.

David Benavidez has not at any point of his career, stylistically been that type of fighter 'That is why tactically the fight in terms of preparation is not a difficult fight for Alvarez when he is in solid condition'.

Note: David Benavidez vs Canelo Alvarez would still be a competitive fight, because? Benavidez's style of fighting will at least attempt to apply mases of pressure upon Alvarez. But when a fighter is competing against elite level boxers skill for skill, they more than just pressure. There needs to be a sophistication, and creativity with their offense. I have not seen that type of ability from David Benavidez'.

In that style of fight, I believe Alvarez's inside game would just have too much sophistication and effectiveness for Benavidez to win rounds consistently'.

This is a good post but at 168 or 175 Canelo loses this fight. He doesn't have what it takes anymore to keep Benavides from winning a UD.

beterbiev went life and death with yarde and dropped multiple times by cans but apparently David has no chance. ye ok lol. This was his first fight at 175 vs a top 5 former WC, he will improve, plus he had injured hands.

What exactly do you call life and death? He dominated the fight and knocked out yarde. You were watching a completely different fight.

That's the thing, Benavidez couldn't hurt him at all. Not even a stumble. That's kind of scary. Plus he looked small flabby, if that's a thing.

He did get tired towards the end but arguably won every round till about 7 or 8. And was constantly bouncing punches off Gvozdyk’s head.

You are right that Benavidez didn’t appear to be able to hurt him but the hand injuries could have had something to do with that.
