Don't see Eddie setting up a quick rematch either , Matias is going to have to earn it maybe get 2/3 real solid wins .Comment

Subriel has been popped, he can destroy a certain level, nobody near the top that doesnt fight like a sponge will be worried about Matias, Paro is not elite and he brought to the surface what we have been saying about Subriel, no doubt he can punch but he cannot handle the overall ability of the better guys.Comment

Panda mentioned the bolded in a post fight interview , I think this was the perfect storm Matias had hometown distractions and lost a bit of his humbleness and was overconfident . Paro give him credit had a great fight plan and fought a hell of a fight . Would pick a focused Matias in a rematch , Paro fought the fight of his life and he still only basically managed to win only 2 more rounds .Matias was not himself zero punch out put , even if he fought the same exact fight all he needed was to just let his hands go and he gets Paro out of there .The only one that was hurt in this fight was Paro , and his corner also had to push him to dig deep its was not an easy fight for him .

He's got three daughters, and a wife to fight for that's where his mind should be focused on.
Hanging out in the past got him shot, and incarcerated, he's got to want a better life than that, he's not a teenager anymore.
He's an adult, and has to act like one, he can do it because he's got that fighting spirit, but discipline is key.
I hope he learns from his mistakes, and comes back better than ever, his next fight will be very telling on what's in store for his future.Comment

I wouldn't bet against Matias in the rematch, but only because I think so little of Paro who is eminently beatable. Though he has decent footwork, Paro is overall a terribly basic fighter who punches with ZERO intent to harm. Matias at his best has proven himself to be a real beast, but he very much RELIES on his opponent to simply stand there and play rock'em, sock'em robots with him until one guy gives out. Any world class fighter with good feet and decent mid-range boxing craft should beat Matias. Based on this weekend's performance, Matias loses wide to Haney, Teofimo and Puello and, based on his listlessness this weekend, I would bet on Pitbull Cruz to outwork and outsmart him. This loss is really devastating to Matias' future prospects.
Also, to your point about Paro being a dirty fighter, Matias' uncle Luis Pabon more than compensated Matias by all but disqualifying Paro for breathing.
He was like let me warn him, instead of deducting anymore points from him, in trying not to appear biased, he made himself look really biased with the excessive warnings, and being to close to the action.
He actually looked like someone at a dance, who wanted to cut in during the whole fight, what happened to this ref, he must've let the event get to him.
No one needs an uncle (which he's not) like that, absolutely no one.Last edited by Boricua181; 06-18-2024, 08:05 AM.Comment

The referee did a horrible job, instead of warning Paro excessively, he should've deducted points for excessive holding, and rabbit punches.

It just doesn't work out for someone every time out, either your off or your opponent has the one of his moments at that particular time, and place.
I've had my highs, and my lows, i'm sure you have too, so as far as Subriel being popped, we will see how he comes back from this.
We'll also see how Paro does going forward, and how he looks the day that he gets popped as you put it, don't be surprised if he looks even worse than Subriel did.Comment
