Really he's getting a shot at the WBA interim!? didn't even know this guy was still fighting.

He completely ruined his own career trajectory not taking the Hrgovic fight.

And also by choosing to fight on that blktv, blkprime or w/e it was.

I was just looking at the rankings today, trying to figure out where the next US Heavyweight comes from. We know they'll manufacture one and Anderson isn't ready.

I came across Chaney and Hunter ranked 7 and 8 respectively with the WBA as being about as good as it gets.

I'd never heard of Cassius Chaney so I looked him up... He's about to turn 37 this week. 23 wins and 1 loss. Knocked out Trevor Bryan last year to get his ranking. I suppose at least he's 'stepping up' after just 24 fights.

So there you go. Cassius Chaney - the next big hope for US boxing.

Why on earth would Usyk want to rematch with this guy? I mean, what does Hunter bring to the table to make the one and only real and current heavyweight champ want to fight him? Someone in this thread said delusional and that's correct.

Only Chaney and Charr stand in his way. FFS, he actually could get a mandatory shot.

Although something tells me that if Chaney is Don King's fighter, on Don King's card, then we could be in for a Don special.

Don doesn't need the title fight. Just the step aside money.

Jared Anderson vs Hunter would be interesting.

If you look at the tale of the tape for that fight, you’ll see that I was underweight the night of the fight compared to the weigh-in
This is the first time I've heard of a fighter saying he weighed less on fight night then weigh in. Also you can't check the tale of the tape because it only lists his weigh in weight, not fight night.

Don King must still have some chips to call in from the WBA in order to have tremendous underachiever Hunter fight for a WBA interim title. Hunter must be on crack to think he has any shot at Usyk who he fought 7 years ago when nobody ever heard of Usyk.. Something reeks under the table money exchange here. Hunter has squandered so many opportunities to put himself in title contention. Wasn’t he and Hergovic supposed to fight an eliminator 3 years ago for the IBF No. 1 ranking and decided to instead fight the No. 1 now defunct Thriller? Hunter is as lazy as they come and is definitely not deserving of this opportunity but for the fact of King calling in his unused WBA chips. What a scam!!!

Hunter is one of the most disappointing guys I can recall. Obviously he wasted his career. Why would he suddenly have ambition at 35 years old?
