The sport has developed to the point now that every fight and fighter lools the same pretty much. All so samey. And wrestling seems to be the way to win, which is boring as ****. Its a boring product now most of the time. Only a few good exciting fighters.

It's like if boxing was dominated by your Floyd's, Haney's, Winky Wright's, Bernard Hopkins of the world. Boxing was going that way when Floyd, Winky, Bernard and Wlad were at the top. The exciting was dying due to boring styles dominating.
Bernard sure wasn't boring to watch when he whooped up on Trinidad!

One fight. Most of his other fights were trash.

Then it got slightly exciting again to see a guy that was pushing 50 fight at near the top level.

Then he stuck his tongue out at Kovalev and that's all she wrote

I find guys like Floyd, Hopkins, and even Wlad to be way more exciting than Wright. Dude was dull as they came and didn’t belong on TV.
It's a shame Floyd vs Winky didn't happen.

Because Floyd would have lost that fight.

Good question, I don't know. UFC 302 was the first time I watched MMA in a decade and I haven't watched wrestling in nearly 30 years (Hollywood Hogan era of WCW). By recollection alone, it does seem there could be an overlap in fanbase.

Rubbish. With boxing I can watch 3 minutes of constant movement...either in defense or offense....or as is often the case with MMA....4 out of 5 minutes just holding ground. For boxing fans like myself its about the contest. For most MMA fans its about the finish.

Because you're a dedicated boxing fan who has the patience to watch and appreciate some random undercard fight going longer than UFC championship fights with no finish, no knockdowns, no visible damage etc.

Its objective reality that if you were to put an MMA card and boxing card side by side the ratio of highlight worthy stuff (finishes, knockdowns, visible damage, big shots etc etc) is usually going to be strongly in favour of the MMA. The top end of boxing matches imo are better than the best MMA fights, but MMA has a MUCH higher frequency of good fights and presents as being a lot more exciting to casuals who have no horse in the race. Its crazy to try and deny that tbh. Boxing has many qualities but for entertainment value and crazy fights its behind MMA, kickboxing, One FC Muay Thai and bare knuckle.

Not now or in the last 10-15 years. But in the late 90s through mid/late 00s when the WWE was more adult oriented yes there was quite a bit of crossover. A lot of the MMA fans from that era were pro wrestling fans who reached college age and jumped ship.

I think that's because the difference from good to really good is not that great of a gap in MMA as it is in boxing so you see more even to and frow tussles, its more of a dog fight than a quickdraw shootout, MMA has more of a grind to it whereas boxing can be lights out in a millisecond and the top guys carry that millisecond in their back pocket along with power and precision, Ive always said boxing is a speed sport and because of its dynamic power delivery its like a sudden death scenario, MMA is more of a drawn-out battle, Im generalizing here as there is always exceptions, I like watching both and can appreciate both, its like eight-ball and billiards same in lots of ways but also entirely different.

Gotta be honest, I think its the total opposite lol. Boxing is a lot more drawn out and attritional and about breaking someone down over several rounds and strategizing/pacing for later rounds. Thats part of the reason why the best boxing matches are a lot better than the best MMA fights, they feel more epic, but its also why boxing matches that arent so great can feel like a slog in comparison. Obviously boxers have great speed, power and precision in their punches but then with the counts, bigger gloves and that its just punches coming it also means defence is way stronger so it offsets that. With MMA fights can and frequently do go from a 50/50 to being over in like 5 seconds. That can happen in boxing too granted, but its nowhere near as common.
