There are a lot of exceptions to that rule though. Alex Pereira is one of the biggest stars the UFC has had in recent years and he was maybe the best kickboxer ever at his weight before he transitioned to MMA.

I can only speak on the UFC. It is gruesome (a man just had his arm dislocated or broken at his elbow at UFC 302 this past Saturday), there is nonstop visual and auditory advertisements from the commentators even during the main events on UFC PPV, and a lot of people everyone involved from the fans to the organization appears quite toxic. The fighters are the most respectable persons involved by far and they are taken advantage of by the organization, as it has all of the leverage to decide what to pay them. It creates an environment where fighters have to be the person Dana White wants them to be as opposed to who they really are.

If there was RBR threads for the big fights I'm sure more people would watch around here. Their undercards are usually really good.

I do sometimes. Alex Pierera is fantastic to watch.

The sport has developed to the point now that every fight and fighter lools the same pretty much. All so samey. And wrestling seems to be the way to win, which is boring as ****. Its a boring product now most of the time. Only a few good exciting fighters.

It's like if boxing was dominated by your Floyd's, Haney's, Winky Wright's, Bernard Hopkins of the world. Boxing was going that way when Floyd, Winky, Bernard and Wlad were at the top. The exciting was dying due to boring styles dominating.

To random….any guy can win an MMA match as there are various ways to take someone down so it’s more about luck….for me there has never been a UFC fighter look as talented as a Leonard , Ali , Loma etc when they are in full flow.
watching men wrestling on the ground is not the same as watching the first round of say Hagler vs hearns

Gawwwd I still get extremely annoyed thinking about Winky Wright. I hated his style so much man. When he fought on Roy Jones undercards, it was cigarette break whenever he came on. I used to tell peeps all the time dude like Stinky Wright could be fighting the 50ft giant woman with her tiitties all hanging out and I still wouldn’t watch that sht.

I find guys like Floyd, Hopkins, and even Wlad to be way more exciting than Wright. Dude was dull as they came and didn’t belong on TV.

I've enjoyed some MMA fights where they were pure standup but mostly found out about them after they occurred. I've rarely tuned in to watch live MMA. The few times I did, I was bored out of my mind with all the ground work. Granted, those same folks would say the hitting and holding fights in boxing do the same and I would agree with them. Though it's my overall preference to watch stand up combat vs anything going down to the floor.

The new stuff like Bare Knuckle Boxing is interesting to me. You would think that I'd watch and love it, but I actually prefer not to just see a dude's face get turned to mince meat early on due to cuts by knuckles. I prefer the skill and coordination a boxer wearing gloves can provide since unless they have 1 punch KO power, they need to systematically break a dude down all while wearing gloves. It's like these new shows, BKB and Slap Fight are trying to skip the skill required and go right to the ending which is the KO. I know BKB requires ability, but it still feels like there is a tad less strategy involved than in boxing with gloves on.

That said, I don't hate on MMA, I just hate when the fans turn it into a boxing vs MMA pissing match of which is better.

Do WWE and MMA have the same fanbase? Wondering about that.
