Well Wilder, it's been a fun ride. Given your severely limited skills and very late start in boxing, you went further than 99.9% of boxers. Enjoy your retirement and thanks for the memories!

wilder has been around for almost 10 years now on the "top level" shows you how easy it is to extend someones career with carefully matched fights. thats why when people bash guys like jerry quarry and how wilder would destroy them you have to shake your head. guy was so much more accomplished than wilder but because wilder was a manufactured industry plant people lose their minds over the hypeComment

I was pretty ambivalent to Wilder during his career. First time I saw him was probably against Stiverne in their first fight and, I'm ashamed to admit this, I was a fan of Bermaine at the time (although that lethargic effort was disappointing).
Anyway, Wilder did well for himself. Got in the sport late and made life-changing money to ensure his daughter could have the best life possible. Was he a manufactured champ who benefited against carefully picked opponents? I'd say so but he still sparked most of those dudes out in highlight reel fashion.
His power was very real and he rode it for as long he could. If he doesn't fight again, he can still be proud of what his career has provided him and his wars against Ortiz and Fury.Comment

We can look back at it and laugh now, but those were serious discussions back in the dayComment
