He fought poorly, but he didn’t quit. Take a look at the replay and see the full-force hook that landed straight to his teeth. Then watch his body crash to the ground with his legs stiffened up. Give the man credit for having the heart to even get back on his feet after that shot.Comment

I said before the fight that Wilder should instead be fighting at Bridgerweight. 215lbs vs 282lbs is just too much at the top level.
I would understand if Zhang was a gatekeeping journeyman, but he's a top HW.
Wilder may still have it in him if he actually fought guys his size.
If he were thinking of boxing 2-3 more years, they would have given him 2-3 tune-up fights after the loss and lack of activity to get his timing and confidence back. I think Wilder just thought he could go through one or two fights before he cashes out on the AJ fight. I guess that is why they did not fight at all waiting for that AJ deal. Just to get some retirement money before saying good bye but surely he's not into boxing any longer.Comment

This is pro boxing. I've never done it, but I know that if it was me, I would've gotten up and actually end up KO'ing Zhang in the very same round.Comment

I know it was a heavy knockdown, but I think Wilder quit. There was no effort to get up or complaint when he was counted out. Didn't look that bothered.
Then again it was a shot from Zhang on the button, and then a totally unguarded killer shot. He still didn't look too bothered though :/Comment
