I kind of thought that it was too soon for him to come back after such a nasty gash.
Virgil needs to stay active and fight anyone. That is why you see a lot of no hopers in some of the great fighters from back in the day, they stayed active so they can stay sharp.Comment

Not saying Tim is ready. However, I can Doctor shop any Doctor to say anything I wish him to say. Why? Because I pay him. Ever needed a Doctor note for work in your youth? Think it stops when the Doctor is paid much more to write those notes? It isn’t “moronic.” It’s fact.Comment

It's not a sport. It's a business. That's why fans are okay with boxers fighting once a year, then wait around some more. It is what it is. Jermell Charlo is waiting for the winner of Madrimov/Crawford fight doe. And the fight is still 2 months away. Then the winner would have to take a rest for at least another six months. And Charlo was last seen in the ring 9 months ago. Eight more months of waiting if you're lucky.Do you now see how silly it is to wait for the winner of so and so fight, instead of taking at least a stay-busy fight?
Yet you see fans keep suggesting, "Oh, fight the winner of so and so fight..." as if the winner would be ready in a week for his next fight.
Can we at least suggest to fighter A or B who is already more than 6 months off since his last fight take interim fight while waiting?
Point is, not only are we talking about another 6 months minimum of waiting, but all sorts of things can happen in a day, week, month like injuries
inside or outside of the ring, personal issues, etc.Last edited by brettWall; 05-31-2024, 04:29 PM.Comment

I'm not ok with fighters fighting once a year , I think that it sucks . Unfortunately I am not in a position to do anything about it. It's one of the worst things about boxing as far as I'm concerned. A busy fighter is a sharp fighter and a fighter who is continuously learning. Besides that , it's virtually impossible to build any kind of momentum or a profile with the public , even with real boxing fans if you're never seen. Out of sight is out of mind. Loik at the Russell family , phenomenal fighters but no one takes them into account when discussing boxing because they are so inactive. It's not a sport. It's a business. I can understand the reasoning my thing is I'm not sure why it was even announced to begin with cuz it didnt make sense for Tszyu lol, 1st thing came to mind was Aug? Really? that was a dangerous fight for Tim coming off that cut and really his performance altogether seems someone on his team studied Ortiz tapes a lil closer realized this and pulled the plug lol
Lets not forget Tim is also over 30 too while Ortiz still under 30 has good size and throws punches in bunches..another L so quickly would be very bad for Tim career
Love the fight just didnt seem to make good business sense for Tszyu in the 1st place
Vergil still needs to fight though be it 154 or 160 vs Lara or someone light, Idt Danny Garcia is interested at 154 maybe Castano where he been?Last edited by Realizniguhnit; 05-31-2024, 01:04 PM.Comment

Being in "Merica" had nothing to do with it. He fought a gangly, dandy longlegs who's bony elbow when right into Tszyu's cranium. That cut was massive and if it opens again, it would undoubtedly cause another early stoppage and anticlimactic fight result.
Give the guy some credit for fighting through all the blood. It's more than you can say for the large majority of fighters who get a bad cut and immediately say they cannot see to get the fight stopped. Tszyu is tough as nails and Fundora won his title through massive handicap of his opponent.Comment

True. It's always been like that. Just months ago fans were suggesting that Crawford, who was already in his 8th month of being inactive, that he should fight the Tszyu/Fundora winner, as one example among many. Meaning, they're okay with Crawford to wait around some more considering the winner is expected to take a long rest and who knows when he's ready to come back. Not to mention a lot of things can change or happen drastically in a week, let alone months, like injuries, or some new kid on the block appears and gains attention. Who would have thought Mardrimov would become part of the conversation? What if he didn't? Will the waiting continue, no problem? It's not a sport. It's a business. It doesn't take 8 weeks for any cut to heel unless he was sliced with a chainsaw, you stooge. Timmy simply didn't like this fight. Vegas has him as the underdog for a reason. If he couldn't handle Fundora, he's not handling Ortiz. When Timmy Bad Azz comes back, watch him fight a soda can down under, then start running his mouth again.Comment
