The heavier divisions (175 and up) are not attractive to casuals, who comprise 90% of the buying public, especially in America. Only hardcore fans make a huge deal of these divisions. PBC is done with them.

The WBO stole his belt off him to give to BJS, promised a fight with Kovalev in return which he didn't get, has one loss to maybe the best fighter in boxing, has fought nothing but solid opponents and is now a two division champ.

GBP doesn't really do anything above 175lbs.... they have 1 heavyweight and zero cruiserweights. They're not a good fit for a cruiserweight champion. Moving on is definitely a good idea.

Oscar loss millions on Zurdo fights, didn’t break even for most of his fights due to the millions Zurdo commanded. Golden Boy got Ramirez multiple title bouts with Bivol and Arsen during his tenure with them. He’ll be 33 next month best for Oscar to cut ties now than to continue losing money on a guy that he’s loosing money on.

Zurdo has never made anywhere near close to a million dollars with Golden Boy.

He made 350k against Bivol and 400k against Gulamirian.
