I dunno TF to do with this. It doesn't challenge what I said outside of the claim it should. Maybe you didn't understand the post? I don't mean that like, smart ass, I am genuinely asking if maybe you mistook what I said?

How does citing speed or footwork detract from my statement rather than sit comfortably within it?

Without that, TF am I meant to do here but recognize you not liking those names being compared for extremely superficial reasons?
Usyk is drilled in Soviet style footwork from a young age, Marciano took on a pair of boxing gloves in his 20s ? There is a big big technical difference right there. Also isn't Marciano 85kg, looks more like Mairis Breidis.

Marciano was more planted in his movement, some key aspects of keeping the pressure overlap. But the way that Marciano did it maybe more impressive since he is standing is ground and not relying on an escape route by hopping back.

Then I'm in good company. I've been watching fights for 40+ years and I freely acknowledge I don't know what the hell I'm talking about either.

After watching some Marciano I have him higher than Usyk. Don't know if it is the camera angle but the punches look more devastating.

I would say that Oleksandr Uysk is a boxer puncher, who prefers to produce most of his work from mid to long range.

The thread starter, mentioned that? He did not believe Uysk possessed a great inside game, until he fought Tyson Fury.

Oleksandr Uysk still has not shown a highly developed inside game in my opinion, but that may be because 'I don't think he has been involved in a fight since Derek Chisora, which has demanded him to fight within this area to a great level'.

It was Oleksandr Uysk's mid-range game which was impressive vs Tyson Fury 'Fury for whatever reason, did not really apply much of his inside game',

During the build up to the fight, I sense that Tyson Fury and his team were attempting to bring back a hybrid version of the Riddler 'A version of Tyson Fury that we had not seen for almost 9 years. And on fight right, I believe that is the version of Tyson Fury which appeared'.

Note: Oleksandr Usyk is a classical boxer puncher, just like Anthony Joshua 'But within styles there are also variations, the comparaison stylistically between Oleksandr Uysk and Manny Pacquiao is a very good observation' etc.

I get you, there are huge differences and to some Usyk just dances the night away with Rock. I didn't really want to get into who is better because I think that's more a personal question than people like to admit. How much you appreciate punching vs boxing is really what folks tend to talk about. They use the men involved as representatives for forms really.

The high output is just about the only thing that unites them. I guess they're both small in their era but Usyk's a good solid 30-40 lbs heavier.

That said, the fellas who really like slips and cute boxing have a strong argument in Usyk. He's definitely faster, he has a pretty good defense, and he's got a good chin. That should be enough to give Rocky a hell of a fight.

For me, I accept Marciano losing only exists in the world of fantasy along side trolls and fairies.

Usyk may yet prove his ability to keep up, but I lean toward the legends because their story is written. You have to favor the man who did over the man who has yet to. IMO. I just try to stay away from stylistic superiority arguments. Legacy is more clear and there Rocky definitely has Usyk. For now.

Bro just a few weeks ago dudes were claiming Fury's the GOAT. Seriously doubt Fury hit top 5 ATGs consistently as Rocky does 30 years after Fury's retired. Louis, Dempsey, Jeffries, Lewis, and Ali are the names usually found somewhere at or near the top five along side Marciano. Usyk getting there takes some work and that's not as arguable as "But I think this guy wins because I think speed matters a lot more than you think it does" style debates.
Walking well in your 20s into this sport and retiring undefeated without taking a step back against any of those big punchers, you cannot be more of a natural.
