He's still very much a gate keeper, and that's why Mbilli is fighting him. Even at 38 yrs old, Deryvanchenko is going to give this man a tough fight. Given the styles, expect a FOTY type war.

Christian Mbilli has been facing bums and club fighters so I most certainly will go with Sergiy Derevyanchenko in this fight, easy win too.

It's the new way of climbing to the top. He said no to Morrell jr, then fought hefron and now a 38 yo journeyman, same one munguia fought before ryder.

Both the guys you mentioned moved up to 175. I assume mbili who is higher ranked in ibf will see if he can be in line for the vacant title vs scull after this. Doubt he moved up to 175 should Morrell beat rod.

They moved up recently. Mbilli had all of 2023 to go looking for them. He didn't.

Derevyanchenko is not a journeyman, he's a gatekeeper.

He's 15-0 against fighters that never won a world title in their careers and 0-5 against fighters that did.

That's the definition of a gatekeeper.
