  • Comments Thread For: Eddie Hearn Hoping To Arrange Title Fight For Victorious Jack Catterall

Promoter Eddie Hearn is hopeful that Jack Catterall's big win over Josh Taylor in Leeds will bring him closer to a world title fight. Catterall outpointed his bitter rival over 12 fast-paced rounds at the First Direct Arena and was faced with questions about what he wanted to do next.

Lopez v Catterall makes the most sense. Catterall should be the lineal champ, Lopez is the lineal champ, settle it in the ring.

Why target Lopez? It makes no sense. Hearn has the IBF and WBC belt holders signed to Matchroom, why not one of those next? Much easier fights to make.

Matias fights in a couple of weeks. They're on a similar timeline and Matias is with Matchroon. No brainer.

Exactly. Catterall is in his 30’s, he hasn’t got time to be waiting around for Teofimo- who, let’s be real, isn’t going to fight a relatively unknown slick southpaw as a voluntary.

Cat and Teo have the same credentials, they both beat a shot Taylor. What baffles me is, Cat waited 2 years for Taylor, now Eddy is in a rush? Cat vs Teo with no title on the line in 2026 is Eddy in a rush.

Catterall deserves a shot at the legitimate championship of the world, not a dumbass trinket that was stripped from Taylor. Haney, Matias, and Cruz are belt holders, Lopez is the world champion from the official win over Taylor, Catterall is the uncrowned champion from that first robbery against Taylor.

It’s not gonna happen though. You really think Lopez would fight Catterall as a voluntary? You think Top Rank will try and make that fight?

The only realistic options are Matias and maybe Haney.

I think he could beat Teofimo. Haney and Matias, not so sure.

Will never happen with Teofimo anyway after Arum's pathetic meltdown.
