Usyk from AJ 1 vs fury from wilder 2. How do you see that fight going?

Just rewatching aj/usyk 1 now it's crazy how much sharper and quicker usyk was for that fight. I know he's 37 now and has slowed a bit but his footwork angles and feints are sublime in the first aj fight. I think he'd give tyson fits even more so than he did the other night. Obviously tyson was sharper for wilder 2 as well but I would have loved to see the fight a couple years ago.

Can’t mix and match performances like that because fighters fight the way they do due to the style of the opponent. No version of Fury would look like the Fury from the Wilder rematch against Usyk. Usyk isn’t Wilder, he doesn’t have the same flaws and has different skills and adaptation compared to Wilder.

The way Wilder fought Fury on the inside while Fury was wrestling, was pretty bad. He had no answer for Fury’s dirty tactics and clubbing hands to the back of the head. Meanwhile Usyk adapted and eventually had an answer for Fury’s grappling tactics, slip and punch, slip and turn, or bring elbows in to avoid being clinched on to, having nothing for Fury to latch on.

Usyk fought AJ differently from how he fought Fury. Think about why that might be... I have my theories, but try playing trainer a little and think about what weaknesses AJ has vs what weaknesses Fury has. What's the gameplan to fight them? There's a rationale for why Usyk fights the way he does.

We all have our own theories. What are you a shrink?? Jot down your theory and I will see if it coincides with mine

I would put my house and everything I own on Fury winning that fight. Fury would outbox him. Usyk caught fury at the perfect time, when he’s on the decline and not fully focused anymore.

You can't import styles because the style you fight is related to the way the other guy is fighting.

In terms of just making them both younger, I think it's a similar outcome. Usyk has always found a way - Fury hasn't.

But who knows. It didn't happen.

So, here's how this goes. I explain my theory, and if I've backed it up sufficiently, you then say "yes, that's exactly what I was thinking." Intellectual laziness. If you want to understand more about boxing, thinking about how you would beat a fighter can help a lot.

For me, the gameplan looks a lot like they considered how well each fighter responds to pressure, and what kind of pressure puts them in an uncomfortable place. Thinking about pacing and gas tanks especially, there's a big difference between how AJ fights and how Fury fights. So the approach has to be different.
