I'm rooting for Fury as I've been a fan of him since he won me over in the first Wilder fight with his heart but it's hard not to value and appreciate Usyk's mentality and philosophy here. I wish more fighters thought this way.

Well, because he has the Olympic medal and it is not certain he will have the undisputed title. An Olympic medal is good because it is usually your first recognition but it just puts you as the best amateur, not the best boxer.

This is one of the easiest to relate to takes there is, but for some reason some of the "boxing fans" on this site are triggered by it. To just MAKE the Olympics takes multiple years of focus and sacrifice. Then, you usually have a very narrow window at the games to accomplish what you could have spent most of your life training for. Throw in the Pride in Country a ton of these athletes have and the burden of carrying all the sacrifices your families have likely made to get you to that level, to rise all the way up to hear your nations anthem played because of your accomplishments could easily be seen as pinnacle moment in an athletic career.

Professional boxing has multiple title belts from multiple federations. There are regional championships, there are European championships. There are organizations that award different belts for fights that normally would not have any title on the line. There are different divisions that boxers can qualify for than rehydrate back up to give themselves wins against smaller opponents. In all these circumstances, fighters are introduced as world champions. It is watered down, a promotional gimmick. Nearly walking punch-line.

Usyk' has said from day one as a CW, and as soon as he moved up to HW that unifying the titles was his only goal, so it is OBVIUOS he understands this is important professionally. But the man loves his Gold medal. What is there to debate or be upset about here?
