  • Any reason why Brandon Figueroa is not in contention with Inoue?

Some believe he didn't lose to Fulton. Some believe he won that fight or should have been a draw.

Figueroa got an iron chin. Why not test it with Inoue?

Figueroa gets hit way too much. Inoue would destroy him. He is also far less battle tested at the world level.

Figueroa vs fighters that won a legitimate world title in their careers:
D vs Julio Ceja SD 12
W vs Luis Nery KO 7
L vs Stephen Fulton Jr. MD 12
W vs Mark Magsayo UD 12
W vs Jessie Magdaleno KO 9

Ceja and Magdaleno weren't ranked at the time of their fights, either.

Inoue is 14-0 with 12 KOs against ranked opposition and all 14 of those guys won legitimate world titles in their careers.

I'd love to see it. It would be fireworks.

He beat Nery brother. Couldn't keep up with Fig.

I am aware he beat Nery, it was in the post you quoted. That and the Magsayo win were both very good. But Inoue has 14 wins just as good or better with no losses or draws, and he did much better against both Nery and Fulton than Figueroa

            Because he's fighting at 126?

Figueroa will have his day if he can get a title or two at 126 before Inoue moves up... Everyone's in such a hurry. Next thing you know, people will be wanting him to fight Crawford.

I'm not that type of fan bro. Just wondering. It's more about Figueroa than Inoue. Just amazed by his chin which I just been realizing. Could it hold up against Inoue? That's what I'm curious about.

He is for me, simultaneously irritating and fun to watch with that mugging swarm style but he has no defense whatsoever, its going to come down to whether his chin can hold up to those clean accurate Inoue power shots as he is coming in trying to push Inoue around into the ropes.

Wrong division, but I think it has foty potential if they ever do fight.
