Oscar had not made 147 for over 10 yrs and the last time he was 145 was as a 135 pounder, he gained 2lbs from the weigh in and was the worst case of a drained fighter Ive ever seen worse than LaLonde and Dawson.

And as a comparison Oscar weighed 164 against Floyd and 145 against Manny.
I heard they spotted those brakes, that Manny beat off Oscar, heading south about to cross the Mexican border

Oscar was the favorite. There were no issues regarding weight or anything or being shot prior to the opening bell

Once he started getting the brakes beat off him, it was a million excuses

Why are people critical of Pac on this one? Oscar was the established draw and the one calling the shots, he decided on the weight so it wouldn't look to be as bad of a cherrypick. He did this in order to duck Margarito at the time who looked like a freight train at 147 but it all backfired.

Telling fact is not being critical of Manny, Oscar did this to himself Manny did his job, but that doesnt change the facts that Oscar was dead man walking with no chance, the issue with Manny fans is putting Manny on a pedestal for beating a guy that was wrecked at the weighin and would have got beat by a truck load of guys that night that were nowhere near his class, the fight before Manny ODH couldnt make 150 and was nearly beat by a LW Steve Forbes.

Put it all into perspective and its a soft win.

Nobody blamed Manny it was Oscars fault, it was a soft win over a wrecked fighter, I feel the 164 pound Oscar that stepped in with Floyd would have ran Manny over, and Floyd would have stopped the version Manny beat, the true merit of wins are hindsight when all the facts can be seen, the relationship between fightnight/weighin weight is a big big deal.

Fair enough but he took a chance, took alot of guts on Manny's part, its like anyone being critical of Roy Jones's win over Toney because Toney got fat in between fights and had to drop alot of weight. It was his own fault just like Oscar should have cut properly and come in at 160+ against Manny.

Of course a lot of people picked ODLH to win. Pac had gone 12 against Barrera, a fighter that he previously dominated and stopped and had a split decision against Marquez who he struggled against. After the low hanging fruit in Diaz he went up to fight Oscar. Oscar fought Forbes to get into the style of fighting a boxer since he might had faced Floyd again.

Older fighters should not be coming down in weight especially a weight they have not done in years. ODLH miscalculated but at the end he took the money.

No point comparing anything others did as each fight has its own unique circumstances, Oscar was always a risk at making this kind of weight after 10 yrs of fighting near 20lbs bigger, Roach had also trained Oscar before and said he cannot pull the trigger so the entire fight starting with Manny wanting 142 was calculated around Oscar struggling with weight which he ultimately did and Roach on seeing the weighin said it won't go 4 rounds.

Oscar didn't practice the cut, he guessed he could make it and was wrong as I said in hind site all the pieces tell the real story, the blame is on Oscar he did it to himself but lets not think beating him that night was a great win, it was a win that capitalized on very big mistakes made culminating in a broken fighter that was a shadow of his best.

This wasn't some kind of plan on Pac and Freddie's part though, they had no way of knowing Oscar wouldn't come in the ring the way he did and deserve all of the credit in the world for taking a chance.
