Gamboa vs Mtagwa Under Serious Consideration By Oner

BoxingScene.com was advised that Ahmet Oner, CEO of Arena Box, is seriously considering Rogers Mtagwa as the next opponent for WBA "regular" featherweight champion Yuriorkis Gamboa. Last Saturday in New York, Mtagwa came close to putting away unbeaten Juan Manuel Lopez in a thriling twelve round contest. Lopez managed to hang on in the championship rounds to win a unanimous decision. Gamboa appeared in the co-feature, knocking out Whyber Garcia in four rounds. [details]

I know triangle theories don't work in boxing but I'd be really interested in seeing how Gamboa deals with Mtagwa compared to Lopez.

IMO Gamboa is faster than Lopez and will take his time/being more patient will win him the fight vs. the Tanzanian in late mid-rounds after a one-sided beating...

Style makes fight. But, Gamboa should win this by a wide margin decision. However, Gamboa might get knockdown in the win. But, still win with ease.

I had a feeling this would happen, I said it in another thread.

I like the idea, MAKE IT HAPPEN!

Juanma-Gamboa will be crazy if it ever happens!

well the cats out of the bag after the chosen one Juanma almost got kod by Mtgawa, so you can be damn sure Gamboas corner will want him to be cautious. Id like to see this fight.

Gamboa's speed will lead to an easy victory over Mtagwa, however, I still think Lopez knocks Gamboa out if the two ever meet.

This fight is ******. They need to put Gamboa in with someone not coming off a loss. So I guess Arum is trying to ruin two of his future stars. How intelligent.

Gamboa will be aiming to beat Mtagwa better...So he can hold that over Juanma's head

sort of like Pac did to Hatton, after Floyd beat Hatton. Or DLH for that matter

I don't even think Gamboa should fight Juan Ma now. He should go after a tougher challenge. I think Mariao Santiago may be better than Juan Ma, and he just signed with Top Rank.
