I believe that Canelo was an overall better fighter as a JMW and MW (however brief his MW campaign was) than as a SMW, even though those SMW belts are his top credentials. If I had to pick one fight where I believe Canelo was at the peak of his prime, I would probably say the Cotto fight to win the WBC MW belt. Canelo never fought at WW (Oscar's best weight), but he was certainly a better JMW and MW than Oscar. The most reasonable fantasy matchup has them meeting at JMW. I won't argue too fiercely with anyone who says prime ODLH beats prime Canelo on points, but its pretty close to absurd to argue that Oscar stops Canelo. Canelo stood up to far bigger punchers than Oscar. If anybody is getting stopped in that fantasy matchup, its definitely Oscar, maybe to the body.Last edited by TheOneAboveAll; 05-02-2024, 01:52 PM.Comment

I will not give a pass on Canelo if he ducks him. I already have one foot off his bandwagon and if he fights Berlanga next I am completely off.Comment
