That Tyson would of gave everybody hell. However, the reason he is out of my list is that is only a 3yr span of greatness. He didn't have the longevity of making my list. But, I agree he might be a top 10. The Tyson of the 90's was a shell of the baddest man of the late 80's.
    Jack Dempsey:

    Won title: July 4, 1919
    Lost title: September 23, 1926 {Gene Tunney}

    Title defenses: 6
    3 year layoff/inactivity right after the Firpo fight...Sept. 14, 1923

If you -3 years for the inactivity which shouldn't count as holding the title...his reign is a lot shorter.

    Rocky Marciano:

    Won title: September 23, 1952
    Last fight: September 21, 1955

3 years (since it is close enough)

6 title defenses: Walcott rematch; LaStarza rematch; Charles 2x; ****ell; Moore.

    Mike Tyson:

    Won title: November 22, 1986
    Lost title: February 11, 1990

    3+ years

    Title defenses 9

That's just the numbers. What hurts Tyson would be that he had the talent but wasted it. He couldn't hold up. He even said he wanted to retire after Spinks yet instead of retiring, which was quite young to do so, he decided to just throw his career in the garbage.
Unlike say, Marciano and we will skip some of the negatives...Marciano prepared for each and every fight to full capacity and when he had enough, he called it a day (and did not return). That's something I like about him. He came prepared because he took his career seriously and when enough was enough, he called it a day instead of throwing it away.
Knock on Dempsey would be that he didn't fight Black fighters as Champion and he went Hollywood for 3 years. 3 Years that he could have been a pitbull tearing **** up...but instead, the Pitbull was well fed and lost what made him great as well as his title upon his return.

I don't know; lists are hard to make. Still don't have one myself even though I guess I have 10 fighters I could put in a pile and say these are the 10 guys I choose but couldn't put them in a particular order...except Ali and Louis at 1and 2.

The man had arguably the best comeback in boxing history. I couldn't put in Frazier. Someone wasn't paying attention

Yeah people have lots of different criterion for rating fighters to, some rate based on achivment and some rate based on who beats who. It's hard to compare.

Yeah the only thing he lacks is size (compared to biggest modern fighters) and his chin could be better. Great at pursuing and finishing off his opponents, Great power.
