Chances are he's working on things before the big fight.

Fact: Benavidez is shorter than Callum Smith and has a shorter reach as well so people can't complain about a size difference for Canelo to fight Benavidez.

it's still a sport. If you aren't fighting people who have a chance to beat you, then what exactly are you doing? Making a personal appearance? I guess there are plenty of boxers doing it these days. what a pile of nauseating nonsense... Jaime a pressure fighter? He can't even throw a jab properly. Canelo is only taking this fight because he has nowhere else to go. He wanted to fight Berlanga but rightly got called out for his bullchit. Doesn't all the excuses Canelo made in relation to Benavidez tell you anything? He does not want to fight him and never will. It is the single worst duck in the history of the sport!

Doesn't change the fact that the size difference was greater for Canelo against Smith as opposed to Benavidez so the fact still stands, no one can say Benavidez is too big for Canelo when he has already fought a bigger guy.

Splendid article well written and to the point great read and spot on in so many regards. The Bivol fight was one challenge too great for Canelo and the Benavidez fight would probably end up the same. I have seen people say he should drop the belts should he want to continue this path and I tend to agree but I can’t see Canelo doing that.

What are you talking about? David has earned the fight, unlike Canelos last 4 opponents. Ranked 1 for 4 years, interim and his mandatory lol. None else is even close.

Mandatory doesn't mean you earned the fight with a fighter,it means you earned a shot at the title lol. We should all have been watching boxing long enough to understand that.

And even with that said,why isn't benavidez calling out the other top guys in the division instead of sitting around waiting on canelo?
Its because he is part of the "chase a payday era"
