Comments Thread For: Could 'Father Time' Catch Canelo Alvarez Against Live Dog Jaime Munguia?

Detractors see recent signs of slippage in Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, but is the timing really right for the "Face of Boxing" and super middleweight king to be dethroned by countryman Jaime Munguia?

Does anyone give Munguia a big chance? Not watched much of him, but his record seems similar to Ramirez, two Mexicans 40+ wins 30+ KOs, guessing it'll be similar to Bivol giving Ramirez his first L

Anything can happen in a fight, but I kinda doubt Munguia will be the one to retire Canelo.
Munguia has been rocked several times in recent fights, and Canelo is more of a technician
than he is. I doubt Canelo fights many more times, but IMO he'll get a UD or late stoppage here.

          No
This fight is made to order for Canelo.
I for one will be sitting it out.

I think the overall opinion is Canelo wipes the floor with Munguia but I don't necessarily agree here. Munguia just KO'd a fighter that Canelo could not in John Ryder. Yes, Alvarez is the more seasoned and more technical fighter but Jaime does have enough power to make it an interesting fight and he is hungry.

If Alvarez has spent his entire training camp smoking cigarettes & watching Captain Kangaroo, then it might be vaguely competitive. Otherwise, no. Munguia is no damn good to man nor beast. He has the reflexes & skills of a cow, but, sadly, not its strength or resilience. This one will go as long as Canelo likes but, IMO, will end before round 8.

if its a close fight they give canelo the decision. mungia could be the more active guy, i can see canelo getting a gift decision.

i think crawford could get upset next fight too

I think it will be competitive with canelo winning 8-4 kind of fight, fun action fight.
