Spence backed out "because health issues". Spence activated the rematch clause then sat around keeping Bud out of the ring, then backed out. When the rematch clause timed out, Bud wanted Tszyu, since Charlo went MIA, but then Tszyu lost to Fundora, who made himself unavailable by getting his nose broken in that same fight and ended up with a six month medical suspension. Madrimov is literally the next best champion at 154. Failing that, he'd have to go to 160 to fight similarly unknown unified champ Janibek Alimkhanuly.

You casuals really don't pay attention at all. There were dozens of threads and articles about this stuff.

Ok, casual... This is a ****** take.

Think about it with a couple brain cells for once.

What does Crawford get when he beats the crap out of Boots? A belt he's already won.

What will people say about Boots after he gets wrecked? Either "He was just a hypejob who never fought anyone and got exposed when he stepped up" or "Bud cherry picked him when he was too green".

Will Boots help sell tickets? No. He's not a draw yet, because he hasn't fought anyone.

What does Crawford get for fighting Madrimov? A world title in a 4th division, joining only 23 other men in history, and sets up big unifications with Charlo for the lineal belt, now that Charlo has activated his champ in recess privilege, gets the interim WBO, likely to be upgraded to full champ if Fundora rematches Tszyu. Then a unification for the WBC with the winner there. And possibly the Canelo fight he wants if Turki can make it.

What do people say about Madrimov if he gets wrecked? Doesn't matter because he will just be a stepping stone furthering Bud's legacy, as literally the best available champ at 154.

Will Madrimov help sell tickets? Maybe, maybe not, but it's on the first Saudi event in the USA, with a stacked undercard. People are going to watch for the likes of Pitbull Cruz v Valenzuela, Andy Ruiz, and great support like Andy Cruz and David Morrell, and possibly Tszyu v Ortiz if Ortiz can get through his next fight in good form.

Ennis has a crap resume. Faded Lipinets and Roiman Villa. That's it. No top 5, and no other top 10 opponents. He's already turned down an offer to fight Crawford. Avoided him to pursue Spence. Bozy has killed several big fights. Said they wouldn't fight Conor Benn unless he came to the US.

Let's see Ennis fulfill the promise of his eye test against a top opponent at least once before you start saying one of the best fighters in the world is avoiding him.

        Also:

Madrimov opponents 259-40-2 86% win rate
Ennis opponents 478-262-34 61% win rate

        How them resumes look now?

Hang on. Boots definitely won't sell tickets, but Madrinov might? lmao. Try and be honest at least Boots is not a big star but he has a decent profile and its an fight with demand. Madrinov is a literal nobody, its a joke main event for a ppv.

As for legacy. 23 other fighters have won titles in 4 divisions, thats quite a lot, its not that special. Big fights are more important and Boots is a very highly rated fighter so that would be a bigger legacy fight than a 10-0 opponent. Thats the problem with boxing, fighters picking up worthless belts and holding like they mean something.

And your even trying to pump up a resume of a guy with 11 fights. lmao.

You are missing the point. Bud sells tickets. Why unify welter twice? 153 and Boots can get in line. I think Bud will grandpa out soon anyway.

Charlo, the current lineal champion, is the mandatory challenger for the winner of Crawford vs Madrimov.

If Crawford becomes lineal champion in a fourth division, he'll join Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao as the only fighters to win lineal championships in four divisions.

Crawford is already one of only 9 men to be lineal in three divisions (Armstrong, Ross, Canzoneri, Fitzsimmons, Leonard, De La Hoya, Floyd, Pac, Crawford).

Crawford is also seeking to be undisputed in a third division. The only three men to be undisputed in even two divisions in the 3 or 4 belt eras are Holyfield, Crawford, and Inoue. Crawford would be the first to do it in a third division, and the Madrimov fight will get him the WBA and WBO interim. The WBO champion is currently also the WBC champion, so that sets up Crawford for a possible three belt unification.
