  • Ryan cheated by not making weight, but Devin cheated inside the ring. So he deserved to lose.

Devin Haney is very skilled. I could see for moments, I think between rounds 2 and 5, that he was outboxing Ryan, and had him back pedalling. I thought there, that Ryan would lose a UD. Or that Haney could even hurt Ryan.

However, part of that success was that he was able to complete nullify some of Ryan's strenghts by illegaly clinching all the time. Remember folks, excessive clinching is illegal in boxing, it's in the rules. Some people say clinching is part of the game. Sure, but if something is valid, why would it be penalized in the rules? Do you read something like "excessive punching is penalized" in the rules? no, of course not. Don't come here acting like clinching all the time is not cheating. It's awful.

The ref was allowing Haney to clinch all the time. And the ref also protected Haney like he was his son. It was shameful. Not giving KDs to Ryan, giving Haney extra time, point deducting Ryan.

So, after all, I'm happy Ryan knocked him the **** out. Cuz that what would have happened with an unbiased ref.

Haney was trying to pull some Mayweather bull****.

I will give you, that Ryan is cringy as **** and deserves to be knocked out too at WW. That's another story.

clinching is not legal. it says right in the rules no wrestling and clinching is a big part of what wrestling is. its also why boxers are penalized and even dq'd for doing it. well b-sides i mean. haney had his personal protection ref just like floyd had bayless and he still couldnt save him besides ignoring knockdowns.

I think clinching is ok, if you are badly hurt, and need to do it to get through the round.....but of course you lose that round. Sometimes you are so hurt, you dont even know you should be clinching. But the fact you have got it in you to clinch when hurts shows your mind isnt completely gone like Frank Bruno when he was hurt.
If haney wants a rematch, he should allow Ryan to be the champ. But Wlad and Floyd used to clinch when not hurt? Thats akin to being scared and hoping opponent dont throw any bad intention punches at you. So if you clinch while not even hurt, you lose round IMO.

Do you have a bit of a mess in your head? yeah floyd and wlad did a lot of clinch and it was not right. They should have been penalized.

Well, after re reading I agree with you, yes.

It wasn't right. If they didn't clinch, their opponents would have been able to throw more punches at them, who knows how many more losses wlad and floyd would have on resumes?.
Other than that, the rounds they clinched a lot, they should have lost the rounds

Not making the weight is not considered cheating, it is allowed, it was official and he lost money and the chance to win the title. But it is an unfair advantage.

Haney clinched a lot, Ryan did a lot of holding and punching and turning his back when in defence mode. The fight was dirty in many aspects on both sides.

Taking a point away from Ryan for hitting after the referee separated them but NOT taking one away from Devin for excessive clinching was disgraceful. If not for this, Ryan wouldn’t probably stopped him in round 7 and saved Haney’s career in the long run.

Also, interesting to note that Haney received a similar beatdown as Spence did against Crawford with a similar number of knockdowns. Only difference being Derrick James WASN’T on the receiving end this time. Also, after the fight he said that it would’ve been better for Haney’s career to be KO’d early than suffer a sustained beating which he’ll struggle to recover from. Therefore, he probably told Spence the SAME thing which is why they’ve parted ways.

I’m actually not a fan of Haney at all. Quite the opposite.

                    You’re an extremely weird guy.
