I understand why people keep bringing this fight up, as it was such a natural one to make and the way Canelo ducked was so blatant and has lasted for years. But really it's done now. Benavidez has moved to a different division, fight won't happen.

I concede there's a small chance the fight will happen in 5 years time, but only if Benavidez gets KTFO out by 2-3 other people in that time, Canelo might come and fight his damaged corpse "told you guys I was willing to face him the whole time, this proves it!"

There's ZERO chance that this fight will take place in 5 years, unless David loses a limb. Canelo turns 34 in July and Benavidez turns 27 in December. Alvarez will be an old man in 5 years.

Canelo has made so many different excuses over the years about Benavidez, that you can only draw the conclusion that all those excuses can't be the real reason. So it must be fear of taking that loss in such a severe way that it erases any talk of who was the baddest Mexican of this era. But real boxing fans already know who is the baddest Mexican. It's Benavidez. On top of that, if he gets beat down convincingly by David, Canelo's fans will demand that he rematch him, and that's an even bigger fear for Canelo. He doesn't even wanna see David one time, so u know a rematch would be out of the question.

Let David fight some real guys, not leftovers like Caleb Plant who he could not even stop unlike Canelo. Benavidez has a garbage resume. Canelo is at the end of his career, he will do whatever he wants. Alot of Canelo haters really overhype Benavidez, mostly casual fans. Lets see if Benavidez steps up and fights the winner of Beterbiev/Bivol, if he does that and wins that would put ultimate pressure on Canelo, but i am pretty sure it will not happen, Benavidez is a weight bully like Haney, as soon he faces dudes his size he will be exposed.
I also predict that David will struggle vs semi retired Gvozdyk and just barely edge out a W, maybe even win via gift decision.

David Benavidez shouldn’t even waste his time because it so obvious to the reasonable boxing fan that Canelo isn’t interested in fighting the ‘Mexican Monster’.
