        I think these things have to happen organically. That typically happens in sport when someone from whatever affiliation becomes good at it and generates fan appeal.

        Women's MMA came into the spotlight with Gina Carani and Ronda Rousey. More female fans resulted.

        You've seen that to some extent at times with women's boxing as well.

        ​​​​​​Other than some sop****ric jokes, I don't recall too much issue with Orlando Cruz; I imagine if someone who was open as a member of the lesbian/gay/bisexual community fought at a high level, it would generate more fan following from those of that community....
