It would've been a masterful display of defense, if he would've coupled it with a masterful display of offense.
Unfortunately for most of us watching this fight he didn't do that, and he eliminated any chance of him winning the fight.

I stayed up and watched all arduous 10 rds and it was mostly on Merhy not doing anything but trying not to get stopped. Anderson tried and was busy but at around rd 6 he should have tried a little harder to step on the gas and take him out.

It was arduous for them, but torturous for the fans that were watching this particular fight.
If Anderson had stepped on the gas the way he did when he was pulled over for speeding, he would've probably knocked out Ryad Merhy.

I know that you're joking , but the guy got hit plenty. He just wouldn't punch back , I guess that on some planet that is considered defense. You're mostly right though , shame on us for not appreciating such virtuosity , a masterclass of true "don't hit" , not seen since the days of Shakur vs De Los Sueños , or Teofimo vs Ortiz. The less you hit , the more you win is how it is in the purest form of boxing. Only by not landing a punch in a whole fight can you really achieve Boxing Nirvana. Only us purists recognize the genius that it takes to box without boxing. Only when you know this , you know **** about boxing. In fact , I'm such a pure and knowledgeable fan that I don't even watch boxing above the knees. I'm such a high level knower of the art that I only watch the feet. The hands are for brutes and savages , undeveloped intellects and people who don't know boxing , shame on them , they want to be entertained , while art is happening. Not me , I look down on the boxers who actually hit their opponents, it's so crass and unskilled.

He didn't want to take the chance of getting clipped but the threat of getting ko'd seemed low given Merhy is a cruiser who fought scared to get hit by a real HW. He should just go back to Cruiser but then he'd have to worry about making weight again, he's too small at 5'9

I don't think Fisher will go on to do anything. But after only having what, 11 fights? I think he should be given time to develop and see what he can do with it. Anderson should be focusing on bigger fish, no pun intended. Maybe down the road though it could become an interesting fight.

Facially he looks a little like my all-time favorite fighter, Sugar Ray Leonard...as well as his physique definition. Maybe even a couple of his moves. On top of that, his talent is just so obviously undeniable. It's rare. I hope he works on his smile and some added charisma.
