That did not look like a future hw star. He had a scared survivalist in front of him and didn’t or couldn’t go for the kill.

Kudos to Tim Bradley for calling out this stinker. Notice that Tessatore,
the company man, fell sheepishly silent—thinking, no doubt, of what happened to Teddy Atlas for being honest.

I genuinely thought he looked fine vs. Martin. So much was made about him getting hit and struggling a little, but he still clearly won the fight. It was a distance fight that JA could learn something from. They over-corrected by putting him in there with Rudenko because that match-up wasn't gonna teach him anything. It feels like JA is becoming a victim of hype and expectation. Some fans are desperate for a young U.S. HW to replace Wilder, and JA is being sold as the heir apparent. But he's barely entered the contender phase and he may not be mature enough to handle it. The legal issues and existential crisis he had during that Roy Jones interview...may actually be a result of him not coping well with the pressure.

Shame to Toprank for this moron match. Absolute waste of time! Anderson must fight a very competitive fighter say Chisora, Ajagba, etc. to prove he is legit. Stop fighting uber drivers!

Fight epitomized the current state of boxing, rampant inactivity. Waiting around for fighters with scheduled fights is becoming legit. Fans even encourage it. Meaning, they can wait for many months on end.

I stayed up and watched all arduous 10 rds and it was mostly on Merhy not doing anything but trying not to get stopped. Anderson tried and was busy but at around rd 6 he should have tried a little harder to step on the gas and take him out.

This all just really highlights how chit Tony Yoka is.

A MASTERFUL display of defense! You people dont understand boxing if you can't see what a high IQ defensive performance Merhy displayed. I guess you dont like ALI either! Merhy employed a highly advanced rope a dope. Merhy has mastered the defense so much he can even do it in the center of the ring! Any puss can just run around, this takes balls! Get off this site and go watch hockey. You dont know what youre looking at if you cant appreciate real defensive boxing.

Because he's in it only for money, like he said. And really that's what a lot of fighters probably think these days; they don't care about legacy, right or wrong. If you can your get named on a list of somebodies and get paid for fighting nobodies, then you can milk it until the teet dries up. He figured that's a great way to cash in, "Why can't I do it too?"

It was a terrible fight, and very difficult to stay up for the entire 10 rounds.
