  • Comments Thread For: Canelo Calls Benavidez Fight With Rehydration Clause A 'Lose-Lose'

Negotiations for a potential fight between Canelo Alvarez and David Benavidez have become a weighty issue. Alvarez is the undisputed king of the super middleweight division, and he will defend his crown once more against Jaime Munguia in an all-Mexican Cinco De Mayo weekend showdown in Las Vegas on May 4. Munguia is certainly an appealing opponent who will help make the fight a blockbuster success, but he superseded Benavidez, Alvarez's mandatory WBC challenger who's been patiently waiting in the wings for several years for his well-deserved opportunity.

Benavidez is a stone cold assassin but if he's serious about facing the winner of the undisputed clash between Bivol-Beterbiev (aka legit 175lbs) then you CAN'T knock Nelo for that. After all, he's already faced Bivol once so he might actually be serious...

Hey Canelo then don't put a rehydration clause on him. Simple. This clown still wants too fight again at 175 but crying about Benavidez being to big.

Canelo talking sh.it again. If he doesn`t want benavidez at 168, he won`t fight Beterbiev at 175 or rematch Bivol at 175 lol.

        Canelo is all talking.

If he bypasses Benavides for the winner of Bivol vs Beterbieb then góddamn, nobody is going to knock him for that.

I've reached Canelo fatigue. It's boring hearing about him and this (non) fight.

You made your money - well done. We hysterically celebrate money/wealth in the western world, apparently nothing else matters.

It’s odd that so many “canela’s” choose this man as their man crush. Never seen a fighter who avoided the toughest fights be so looked up to. That tells you his fans arnt boxing fans

Would be a legit article if it was sincere, without hidden interests.
David's promoter Sampson is in a "good relationship" with the ProBox/BoxingScene owner.
Sampson even praised ProBox and enticed people to watch it, which is something you'll never hear from any PBC sub-promoter, manager, or even trainer - to praise other platforms.

When you feel you have nothing else to prove and can do whatever you want, you should retire.

A fight with the 175 king is more likely than a David fight because he’ll have a built in excuse claiming they were too big.

Love seeing new articles/quotes about Canelo, just to come in here and see everyone lose their collective shits and cry nonstop on a Canelo quote.
