Good question. He was definitely drunk, slurring his words and answering like he was high. Mannix should have realized David was sauced and not interviewed him but he did. Not sure why he felt compelled to apologize, maybe because of his history?

No one should be having to phone anyone for them to get into the ring. As Canelo's mandatory for years and the biggest fight out there for him, Canelo should have pride and courage to face him. But we all know Canelo's a coward and a fraud so wants weak fights against bums, shot fighters, and those who are sabotaged. The shame of it.
