Running and jabbing is fine, it could be boring, but it is legal. Doing some clinch is also fine but it depends on whether you want to grab and/or lean over the opponent or you do it only to negate your opponent's game.
I must admit I enjoyed when Wladimir fought most of the time but Wladimir Klitschko vs. Alexander Povetkin was absolutely disgraceful

That has to go down as the most cowardly and dirty heavyweight title defenses in the history of the sport

Wlad almost shat himself he fought so cowardly

And I remember I was excited to see the two gold medalists go at it, what an ultimate disappointment that was

Wlad should of been disqualified without question

Not just him who added the clinch and holding as part of their game. Bhop, pacquiao, haney,Ward,Mayweather, all these guys did it. Its terrible the state of boxing where clinching/holding is allowed to this extent. I don't mind if they clinch as long as you allow infighting. But refs these days as soon as a clinch is initiated the ref comes and breaks them up and totally resets the action and giving back the advantaged to the longer reach fighter. Almost no ref is taking away points, sure they will warn a million times but almost never take points away.

Haney, Shakur, Hitchens and the new breed to name a few like Keyshawn.

It's not just "one name ".

True. Or they completely disregard the excessive clinching.

              Watch fighters you like.
It's like saying you hate Michael Bay movies.
Simple solution is to not watch his movies.

              Boxing will be ok

What about just grabbing without running like John Ruiz did? That man was so excruciatingly boring the most gratifying bout he’s been in was when Tua almost murdered him.

Excessive clinching is painful to watch, no matter the style.

I'm not a fan of excessive clinching but a clinch doesn't have to be successful. There's is a counter for everything mentioned, it's on the fighter to stop those things.

                    In other words, STFU.

So why have a ref then.

Excessive clinching/holding is supposed to get checked by the ref by taking points.

In football when you hold the ref throws the flag and the infraction is penalized immediately.

The ref is monitoring two guys only I find it hard to believe he can't see a guy excessively holding.
