    Apparently.

Garcia himself is not a huge draw on his own.
I didn't bother to watch his fights with Duarte, Fortuna, Tagoe, etc.
He's a big draw with the right partner.

What about Munguia? He might become a star and he's ugly as ***.

So much for the narratives about Ryan's star power. Honestly, Ryan should have listened to Floyd and became a champion before making this fight. Don't know if it would have helped ticket sales, but it might have made the fight more marketable.
Who cares? We win. Good fights need to happen. If they earn less money, who cares.

Since they started caring more about money, boxing got worse.

So they won't make 50 millions? they will make 30? oh, that's so bad eh?

It's not really a good fight, though. Garcia should have done more to prove himself before taking it, something like winning a belt at 140. Beating Garcia does nothing for Haney, but he took the fight because he thought it would sell. Clearly he was wrong.

He at least looks like a bad guy

reminds of of tong po from kick-boxer tbh

Stevenson and his cheesy ass smile. Bud and his I just ate sour candy face. Haney straight up looks like a monkey. not the tough gorilla kind. But just a random chimp.

Devin is so boring. There's something about him as an opponent that just does not sell tickets

He hasn't turned bad guy, that's what's wrong with him. He's going to learn quickly, he needs to turn into the villain if he wants to sell tickets. Consider him Floyd2.0. He puts on snoozers, so why the hell would I turn on to see a nice guy do that? The only way he can truly capitalize on a style that is cringe for casuals is to become the villain that they want to see lose.

The problem with that, like Floyd, if you stick around too long as the villain, you become the villain for life. The personality consumes you as you have tons of haters and they will get under the skin. Most of the time you hear Floyd talk, post real boxing career, he sounds bitter or annoyed. Annoyed that 90% of his opponents were loved by the people and mostly hated him. So he got what he wanted though, the money. Now he has to deal with the idea that a lot of people watched to see if he would lose because they never liked him and that will go with him to his grave.

From my understanding that was a Eddie & DAZN decision more than a Devin decision. Devin is a free agent not a DAZN shot caller.

For my part, i think he'd be way more interesting if he had power. It's crazy to be a weight bully that's so much bigger than your opponent, have the speed and reach advantages that he does, land so many punches, and have the opponent never in danger of getting stopped. It's less fun to watch something that's a foregone conclusion.

Haney fights are basically all him boxing behind the jab, landing ineffective power shots while banking rounds, and then tying up and waiting for the ref to break them up to lather, rinse, repeat. He's really good at what he does, but a lot of the excitement with boxing is the possibility of a stoppage, and it's been 5 years and 96 rounds since he stopped an opponent, or 100 if you don't count an opponent retiring in the corner.

A lot of people will want to see Ryan either get clobbered or reveal the ruse (if you could call it that).

                      Bank on it.
Agree. Boxing fans are watching even if they arent showing up or buying the PPV. In this era its an attention market as much as a selling market & if you can gain fans via PPV, legal streaming, illegal streaming or old school cable those are fans you can monetize via social media & the attention getting market place later.
