This right here. If there is any meaningful matches even being on the undercard in a Saudi event is a good purse. When those guys look at their options and then are offered a ton of money they will take a risk.

They’re prize fighters at the end of the day. 99.9% of fighters are solely fighting for money.

I have no issue with that. But some fighters will not take a chance in a fight that can raise their profile like an investment. Look how long the HW division was stagnate until all that money came pouring in. Even contenders are taking chances.

Fighters are a lot more selective and protective now.
It’s the Mayweather effect IMO. People associate Floyd’s financial success with the undefeated record. Whilst there’s obviously some correlation, they often forget the fact he was fighting guys like Hernandez, Corrales, Castillo etc to get to that level to earn a mega payday with Oscar.
I will agree the HW division is less than stellar. I mean, a blown up Cruiser stands on the cusp of ruling the entire division. That should tell you everything. Not a knock against Usyk; he's great, but c'mon.
However, we do have fragments of fresh talent emerging and these old dogs are finally being paid to grind down the rankings to that one man. It may not be a murderer's row, but we are finally getting the action we've wanted for a while.
